OT Baller here.

I never tip my butler, chauffeur, pilot, yacht captain, chef, maids, errand girl, or mistresses.

If something does require a tip, my personal assistant handles that trivial shite.

If you tip a bartender for tacking off a bottle cap our pouring a beer, then why wouldn't you tip a barista?
simple answer?

Most bartenders make less than minimum wage with tips expected to be the bulk of their income. Baristas on the other hand are paid a wage with tips being a welcomed supplement to the wage but not the bulk.

I'm not basing any tips off of what the position makes as a wage. Not any of my business. I shouldn't have to research the average income of a barista vs. bartender.

I tip a bartender because I'm going to be getting another drink and I want him to like me and remember that if he pays attention to me, he'll get a dollar. Kind of like throwing a dollar to a stripper so she'll stay on your side of the stage.

If.........if I get a coffee from a barista, I'm walking my happy arse out of that establishment and going on my merry way.

This method doesn't apply to all tipping situations, but it's a darned good starting point.

Also, to those saying they tip 10% at a bar......you really giving 2 quarters on a 5 dollar beer?

I do tip the dealer, but ONLY while I'm leaving the table with winnings. Sucks to tip $10-$20 and then lose everything a few hands later.

I understand that they have no control over you winning or losing so I'm being hypocritical but I don't care. It's my money and I don't fee great about tipping somebody while losing my money.

1. Your server at a restaurant: 10-30% depending on quality of service.

2. The bartender who pours you a beer or glass of wine. $1 per beer/Wine I try to buy at the store and drink at home

3. The bartender who whips you up a cocktail. a simple drink $1/ complex drinks or more laborious drinks $2-$3(some places do everything from scratch and are more time consuming to build)

4. The barista who pours you a cup of black coffee. Lol

5. The barista who makes you a latte or something similar. If it is a local mom and pop shop $1...Starbucks or something like that...frick Starbucks.

6. Your barber/hair stylist $5-$10 depending on how well it was done. I do simple fades.

7. The Jimmy Johns guy who bikes over your order. Never eaten there before.

8. The person at the register who rings up your to-go order. 10% more times than not. I only get food from 5-8 different spots that I love and I usually get hooked up.

9. The pizza delivery guy 10% or $5 whichever is greater

10. The Taxi/Lyft driver - I rarely use these services but when I do I usually use Uber and only tip if I like the driver.

11. The valet - I don't valet...usually park myself.

12. The casino - I don't gamble in Casinos...nothing there really interests me.

I shave my head so I don't go to a barber anymore, but when I did, the barber owned his own place so it wasn't someone who only got a percentage of what it cost.

As for as the person at the register, you are not talking pick up orders right? Just like people at a grocery store? The basic rule is that I don't tip people if it is their job to do something and they are not depended on the number of people they serve.
