To the devoutly religious, how do you view the other religions of our world?

Have always been fascinated by not only what people believe but also how they have come to believe what they believe. In a world with many religions:
1. What influenced you the most in choosing your religion or it choosing you / and becoming devout to your religion?
2. Do you see your religion as the end all / be all? Or do you recognize that there are many religions / spiritual paths?
3. How does your religion itself reconcile that there are many religions? What is your religion’s reflection of other religions?

Is this an essay? Do I get extra credit for this?

This is a profound question.
The illuminated amongst us surely understand thru the study of ancient scripture and spiritual experiences that the world's five (5) major religions share many of the same tenets and principles - these are the universal Laws of Nature.
Ultimately, the purpose of those religions is the reunification of the spirit with the divine. This requires purification of the soul, often thru difficult tests and trials.
***
Seek wisdom and knowledge, brethren.
God Bless

If a person lives in the jungles of Borneo and has never been exposed to the Good Word- do they suffer the same fate as an infant who dies before they are able to get baptized ? I believe it’s purgatory ? Ive always wondered how that works .

They all have some truth. Christianity as a whole, moreso. Catholicism is the fullness of truth.

By reading books about the Marian apparitions. First, I read a book about the apparitions in Lourdes. Next, I read a book about the apparitions in Fatima. Then, I read a book about the apparitions in Garabandal, Spain. The first 2 (Lourdes and Fatima) are recognized by the Roman Catholic Church. The ones in Garabandal have not been recognized (mostly due to political issues).

My question is why does everyone think their religion is the right one?

I'm no longer religious but I was balls deep in religion up until my mid 20s.
Location of birth and my parents. I'd pretty much been indoctrinated into it. I believed it because I figured I'd go to hell if I questioned it.
No. I think that a lot of folks need it. I also think that it can make some folks worse. Too much of a good thing can be a bad thing. If you're alienating yourself from your family because your priest told you that it's sinful to hang around folks who don't go to Latin mass then it's making you worse.
If I remember right, it wasn't that the only way to heaven is through that religion. There was some wiggle room in it for protestants or people who never heard the word of god.
I'm convinced that most people are only as good as their environments allow them to be.

If a person didn't think their religion was the right one, wouldn't they switch to a different one?

I am a Christian. I have no issues with the other religions and I believe a person that has a strong belief in Taoism, Buddhism, Judaism, or whatever is inherently a better moral person than a nonbeliever that ascribes to no higher power in general. The one religion I do see as suspect is Islam. It's plainly written in the Quran that nonmuslims must be converted to Islam either by the word or sword. It also states that a Muslim can be dishonest and lie and cheat infidels for the greater good of Muhammad. To me that is a problem when your religion/beliefs infringe on mine.

Even as a devout Christian, this is one of a few questions that has always been in my mind, same idea applies to civilizations all over the globe who were around for tens-of-thousands of years before Jesus/Christianity came into the picture — what happened when they died?

Without Catholics, the entire world would be a caliphate.

Hard disagree .
As a non-believer, i think that someone who is a good person and acts morally because IT’S THE RIGHT THING TO DO is a better person than someone who tries to be good becuase they’re afraid of burning in hell .

1. History
2. No, I believe all religions have a place. I believe the Lord looks at a person's heart, not their religion. We have all met people in every single religion or even agnostic/atheist that have been very kind good-hearted people .
3. We dont discuss other religions, never have probably never will.

Some believe God already picked who is going to Heaven so anybody that dies unbaptized or unexposed to religion was already destined to hell so it doesn’t matter.

I have come to learn from experience that certain beings are born with a spark of curiosity and yearning for the Truth that starts out like a burning candle but grows into a fire when fed with the tinder of knowledge.
