Prayers Fishfighter. That's all I can do. I have not one inkling of what you're going through. Keep the faith brother.

I understand Fish. It's one breath after the other and one foot in front of the other. Don't expect to handle much more than this at this point. I've been there, I know. Bless you.

Fish, I just remembered to post about the group of people who helped me survive after my son's death, Compassionate Friends. There is a local group in Baton Rouge and in many other locations. Everyone who is a member of the group has lost a child. They kept me going when it was so very easy to stop.

Holy Christ, this post has me in tears. As a father, I can say this is my worse nightmare.

I will pray for you. As someone with mental problems in the family I realize it can be difficult on a daily basis. Please do not feel you falied your son or balme him. we truly do not know what he was dealling with or thinking.

quote:

For those that have kids, for me, please hug them and tell them you love them tonight.

Done.

Prayers sent to you and yours. And prayers offered for your son.

Holy cow... very, very sorry to hear that. My first cousin, and next door neighbor growing up, took his own life 4 years ago as well. He was also in his 30s and struggled with mental demons his whole life. I could not imagine the pain, anger, sadness, etc. you are feeling. I know from speaking with my uncle, he too felt like he had failed... but that is false. Four years later, my uncle, my aunt and their daughter (my cousin), have found what peace they can and are doing "well". I say "well" because they (understandably) are not the same, but they are happy and doing "well". They have found a large support and comfort in their church, which I think has helped them the most. I wanted to share that with you; a. because of the striking similarities, and b. to hopefully let you know that it will get better.

Again, I am truly sorry for you and your family's loss. Stay strong my friend and lean on each other in this hard time.

Also, I will take your advice and hug my daughter close when I get home.

Fish, I do not know you IRL but I, like many, feel I have gotten to know you through this site. You are a strong individual and will find the strength. Reach out for help, you need it at this most terrible time. Your family needs you.

Sorry if this has already been mentioned but is there any type of fund/charity we can donate to in Fish's son's memory?

You have my prayers, man.
Suicide is a vacuum of pain and tragedy. There is nothing that can fill that hole or mitigate the suffering of your family.
But I pray that God will give you and your loved ones supernatural peace and hope during this time. Stay strong and keep your faith.

Prayers for all my friend. I can't imagine the feeling, and will not say it will get better. But, you've been a fighter for a long time. Battle through this for the ones still there.

Fish unfortunately I have had to say goodbye to several friends and family members before it should have been their time. These are a couple of poems I have read at the funerals.

quote:

To laugh often and much;
to win the respect of the intelligent people and the affection of children;
to earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends;
to appreciate beauty;
to find the best in others;
to leave the world a bit better whether by a healthy child, a garden patch, or a redeemed social condition;
to know that one life has breathed easier because you lived here.
This is to have succeeded.

Ralph Waldo Emerson

quote:

Stop all the clocks Cut off the telephone
Prevent the dog from barking with a juicy bone
Silence the pianos and with muffled drum
Bring out the coffin, let the mourners come
Let aero planes circle moaning overhead
Scribbling on the sky the message "He is Dead"
Put crepe bows round the white necks of the public doves Let the traffic policemen wear black cotton gloves
He was my North, my South, my East and West
My working week and my Sunday rest My noon, my midnight, my talk, my song I thought that love would last forever, I was wrong
The stars are not wanted now; put out every one
Pack up the moon and dismantle the sun
Pour away the ocean and sweep up the wood
For nothing now can ever come to any good

W.H. Auden (1907 – 1973)

Not sure if this helps. we are praying for you.

God fearing

Please accept my condolences for your loss. I wish I had some words of comfort that could assuage your feelings of loss.

But, if I may, there is no reason to be "GOD FEARING". GOD is not to be feared for he is pure love and, contrary to most religious teachings, God is not vindictive. I think this is a major failure of the "c"hurch.

I would suggest you read a book by Brian McLaren entitled "The Great Spiritual Migration".

Take care and remember God loves you and all his creation.
