Yep, that’s the one. They lived next door to my mom for a while on Bear Island. I know him well. His daughters were quite a bit younger than me, so I can’t say I know them very well. But they definitely know my sister and niece. My niece was in Kade Scivique’s class. She also got a scholarship to play softball.

Ah ok. If it’s who I think it is, they lived next to my mom for a while and I know her dad well. We work for the same company.

I graduated in ‘98. But have lived here most of my life, so I at least know of pretty much everyone haha.

Yes, I’m in Maurepas. Hunting my land that borders the WMA.

The cost for the outfitter we are going with is around $1800 for the 4 days. The flights were around $600, but we didn't really search hard. The $1800 is an amazing deal since it's all inclusive.
And no, not going with the group from Bossier. All of these guys are from the Baton Rouge area.

Anyone ever been to El Salto?

Has anyone been to Lake El Salto? I was invited to go with a group in November to fish there. From everything I've seen online, it seems to be a bass paradise.
If anyone has been, what should I be packing? And what can I expect?
Staying at El Salto Lodge, if it makes a difference.

Fish, I've only met you once at the kayak monsoon, but I know that you're a true fighter. I have been and will continue to pray that God give you the strength to persevere for your wife and daughter.

Prayers for all my friend. I can't imagine the feeling, and will not say it will get better. But, you've been a fighter for a long time. Battle through this for the ones still there.

thank you for not making this a "need a rating" or a WYHI thread! It is what it is . . . viewing pleasure.
No doubt, rating yes, WYHI? of course. Anyone who disagrees eats dick for a living.

I don't smoke, but definitely spend more on beer than rent. I must be trashy for being a homeowner.

If it's biodegradable or made from recycled paper, like my McDonald's bags or Sonic cups, I toss them. Cane's styrofoam I toss in the trash, usually. Also, throwing things on the ground is trashy. If you just bend over and place it neatly, it's not a big deal. People will think you're gonna come back to pick it up.
Had to do a double take when this wasn't LucasP.

In the construction industry, I have seen the exact same individuals, working for the exact same company perform much better under different supervision. I would assume it's much the same with the restaurants. Hiring better quality management means that people are willing to do a better job for them. Also, those people who never plan to work know better than to even apply somewhere with a real manager.

Ever been to a Hy-Vee? They're only in the Midwest, but definitely give HEB a run for their money.
re: Do you know anyone who lives in and survives off the swamps?

There was a whole family in Maurepas, the Simoneauxs, that lived off the land. One or two of them are still alive and still doing it. The younger generations (40 and below) have all moved on from that life though.
