Can’t wait to find out which title company this is. Won’t be good for business moving forward for them.

That is terrible. Why are they on the hook?

Are you being serious right now? Or just making that up?

Some companies have insurance against this. I would be shocked if they recover this back.

Wasn’t Facebook, Google, and/or Amazon in the news about paying any invoice they received?

Must be nice. Generate an invoice, mail it to those big 3, accounting cuts a check, and mails it to you. No verification of service or goods exchanged.

I wonder if they fell for the invoice for their Google Listing update.

We have to do that every time at work when funds are wired. Even if we’ve sent them a previous wire. We have to verify each time prior to send if nothing has changed.

. It's so common in law.

We get basically an annual email about this, and the "I have a settlement for my wife" scam that's similar (with the fake checks being deposited into the trust, then they pressure you to pay it early, which is paid with other trust money, ultimately, when the check is found out to be fake).

A title company got scammed? That's ironic. fricked over by their own game.

If true, that isn’t the first time they have fallen for this scam. I know they wired money to the wrong account bc of some fraudulent e-mail instructing them to do so about 9 years ago.

This happened recently with a bank I do business with. They caught it in time thanks to a typo on the wire form

We just closed on a property in May and I called and verified any money type of instructions
In addition the money from my vanguard account, went directly to my local Chase bank and had them draft a certified check made out to title company.
I worked in the industry and it’s amazing how much fraud is out there.
I feel for that title company.

No, that was the US Government prior to DOGE.
