Nothing like a few billionaires trusting something controlled by playstation controller.

I’m not sure why this is hated so much, I mean it’s pretty damn well bullet proofed design. I’d prefer that over trusting some controller that someone like nasa made as a one off for a singular purpose.

I dunno about that. I have gone through way too many PS and XBox controllers to trust them for something like a deep sea sub. It's not like I beat the shite out of them from losing tantrums or spamming buttons in fighting games either.

It would be logical to assume there were backup control systems in case the handheld controller malfunctioned. At the very least they should have replacement controllers onboard.

Maybe they forgot to charge them???

To be fair, I haven’t gamed in years so idk. I just mean everything about it has been tested for millions of hours.

So basically the hires made were to check a box, be hip and cool and nothing to do with experience or expertise in he field.

Ehh, I'm not sure if it really matters who he hired TBH. The guy was told certain aspects of the sub were flawed from the get go and he pushed it through anyways. The more I've read about him the more it feels as if like he acted like tech bros w/their "move fast, breaks things" and anyone who who says it can't be done is fired style of running things.

I mean I assume they would but I still wouldn't want wireless gaming controllers that are made as cheaply as possible w/junk plastic bits controlling any kind of vehicle I was in. The inevitable drift you get in the thumb sticks alone is enough to say no to that.

IMO if they were going to use a gaming controller they should have used one of the far better quality fight sticks that tend to be much more durable.

So apparently this souped up carbon pipe actually did have some auto-ascent safety features. I wonder how much of that was tested and validated?

I still can't get over the fact that people trusted that dude and his shitty tube with their lives in tbe ocean.

Well that's great and awful at the same time. Can they be reached in time?

If they're on the bottom, not likely. There's a chance they are drifting in the water column somewhere and not all that deep and then maybe? If somebody got some PSV's heading that way right when they lost contact I guess there might would be a chance. Finding the thing would be nearly impossible if they didn't keep banging on the sides though

I’m the kind of guy that doesn’t understand how cruise ships can float. Like that kind of science just annihilates my skull. I’m not smart.

Having said that, is there a chance these guys are sitting on the bottom of the ocean and the sub could still just implode at any moment? Or do they hit the bottom and they’re just sitting there forever?
