If you ever venture the r/NewOrleans subreddit they had thread recently about tipping when you pick up and they had people saying they do 20% plus lol
I probably do around 15%, maybe a little more. Why not? I tend to order from the same places. They know me. I know them. My order is rarely if ever wrong, and it's packed up and waiting for me. What's a few dollars to engender some good will?
Again, don't tip. I don't care, but these attempts at virtue signaling that you don't tip are odd.

We really need to get away from tips being part of a salary. Just add $1. To every menu item and pay them a living wage. We're one of the few countries who do s this stupid shite

Why tip if you are picking it up? The cooks should be paid as part of the food costs.

Okay boomer.
More likely scenario is that's just the default settings for the receipt printer that's attached to the payment system on their tablet register, and it has no way of communicating with whatever software they use to place online orders.

I'm downvoting it because that bullshite shouldn't be there to begin with.

I tip 1 time and you do nothing for my order I’m not tipping again. Make sure you have your food before you decline tip or good luck. I wouldn’t doubt they save who tips and who doesn’t and taint your food the next tip.

So if the online order software can't communicate with the receipt printer on the tablet register, then how does the receipt printer generate the receipt from the online order? Its all part of the same point of sale system. The request for a 2nd tip isn't by accident
There's also the possibility that they just printed a receipt and asked him to sign it for proof that the order was picked up.

Well, I'm 61 and the first thing I thought when I read the OP was that it's just how the receipt prints out.
I was joking with that smart-arse comment. The only reason I even made it was because within seconds of OP one toolbag was bitching about "those damn greedy kids".

Don't underestimate a lazy super giving out a p/w because he or she doesn't feel like going to the counter every time a refund is needed.

Hadn't seen that but I'd say don't be annoyed with the employees .. be annoyed with either the owner for 1) coming up with it himself 2) allowing it to happen at employee request.
I wouldn't tip twice for sure.

For carry out, I always tip $1 - minimal tip for minimal effort but they still seem to appreciate it.
There are 3 food places that stayed open through the pandemic and I bump that tip up for them.
