They asked you? Or their was just an option at the electronic point of sale ?
I view this as the business shifting responsibility to fairly pay their employees on me, the customer. I would suspect that they then hire people based on the expectation of whatever salary plus tips. Which creates said sense of entitlement.

Don't tip mine but told the owner the guy is the best he has , been with him 11 years..he has a family to feed and he is gonna lose him if he doesn't compensate him fairly.
That worked
That worked

At Bin Q in BR the girl at the counter tells you to skip the tip screen. I assume it’s just a component of their system and they don’t actually expect tips for doing nothing.

Keep sky screaming. No one is begging you for tips

I get it's really annoying how many services have that tip screen now. And I do think it means that services that legitimately should be tipped won't be.
With that said, I have no problem hitting that "No Tip" or "0%" button, even if a worker is staring at me.
At the end of the day, you just click "No Tip" and move on.

Hint: Buy the same $hit they use, mix it in a pump sprayer, and don’t ever have to pay pest control again. It’s about the most low IQ easiest job there is. If you can’t do this on your own, you might have issues!

I just fired my pest control company because I don't think they did shite.
Same here. Bought a jug of the same ingredient kill-a-bug they were using for less than their quarterly fee and I do my own now.
1 oz of chemical X = $1.00 and they want to charge $60 for the treatment. Nope.

If I order standing up the tip is $0

Who's sky screaming? I'm bitching on a message board that's 95% devoted to bitching.
When did I say anyone was begging me for anything? I said the entitlement annoys me.
Your comprehension sucks. Probably why you get shitty tips.

Tipping him is actually worthwhile if you have an issue. They will give extra traps and such.

I tip everyone. I tip my friends when we go to restaurants. I tip commercial flight attendants and the pilot and 1st officer. Neighbors walking their dog on the sidewalk in front of my house. Amusement park ride controllers. Pretty much anyone who does something.

I have a vacant condo tenants recently moved out of. It was always something when trying to send the exterminator there - my dog has a vet appointment. My mother is in the hospital. My anal glands hurt etc etc
So I finally told them I own the place and I’ll be there tomorrow to inspect. Sure enough, roach freaking central bc they were filthy humans.
Exterminator wanted $475 for 2 treatments. I laughed and got Talstar P+ and two days later, not a single roach and not a single one a month later.
Exterminators are rip off artists like mechanics.

I used to be a straight 20% guy, but I have come up with a new set of guidelines I follow, including at sit down restaurants.
I used to tip my barber, $3 on a $15 haircut, plus a good Christmas tip. I'm bald now, but I'm not tipping 20% on a $35 haircut for 2 kids, for someone who sets their own price and works for themselves. Will still do the Christmas deal though.
If your job just started receiving tips, I am not tipping, sorry to all the Subway sandwich artists out there, if you want tips, be a mover or deliver something.
If we are both standing, I am not tipping.
If I pay before I have tried or even looked at my food, I am not tipping, unless you drove it to me.
If you charge me 3% for using a card, you're getting less, and I will probably find another place to go.
If the automatic or suggested tip options start at or above 20% you're getting less than that.
If the automatic or suggested tip options come off the total, versus the subtotal, you're getting less, because you're trying to sneak a little extra.
If you did a really shitty job, you might get 10%.

I've been using Suspend SC and calls for .5 ounces per gallon of water. One gallon goes a LONG way.

Because of these cultural disparities, restaurant associations in Pennsylvania and Missouri are recommending that their members in host cities Philadelphia and Kansas City add service charges during all or part of the World Cup, which begins Thursday and runs through July 19. The guidance is not just a hedge against international travelers who might stiff a server but a precaution to avoid awkward and time-consuming discussions about American tipping customs, tableside chats that could slow down service during a potentially frantic period.
Mandatory 20% tip on all food and drink is not because certain groups don't tip, chats about tipping slow down service.
