Do you like when businesses put percentages on their receipts?

Does that change what you tip?

I don't care about the percentages. If my waiter/waitress is good I'll give them an even number tip, usually $5-$10.

Please tell me this isn't at a restaurant...

I've been tipping about 30% on takeout during the Stay At Home. Went to a couple of restaurants this weekend and generally did the same. Went to a restaurant today and never got our drinks. Literally never. Ordered them first, then ordered food. Food came. Drinks didn't. Asked the waiter. Drinks still never came. Finally said to take the drinks off (calmly and very understanding) and lowered my tip percentage to 25% for this unjustified slight.

We're in a brave new world in the restaurant industry. If you don't tip at least 15-20%, you're a dickhead.

When you say bidnesses, I assume you mean restaurants, because I don't recall seeing this outside of the restaurant bidness.

When they first started putting it on the receipts I didn't like it. It's like they are asking for a tip. And that's a bit tacky. It's a turn off.

But now it doesn't bother me as much, because I pretty much ignore it, depending on the restaurant.

At Subway and other fastfood joints I almost always ignore it. I generally don't tip at such places.

If it's on the receipt at a casual full service restaurant, I roll my eyes I and assume it's for the math challenged customers. I tip what the frick I want. If it's a shitty restaurant, I'm tipping the lower amount.

If I saw it at a high end restaurant, it would seem out of place. Like I said, it's tacky.

ETA: I see you dumb fricks didn't read the OP.

It's a goddamned guide for people who can't calculate.

Are you upset that these suggested percentages start at 15%?

If you actually are an MD like someone suggested, you sure seem to be a cheap one. Take food home from the cafeteria next time.

Restaurants need to start paying a competitive wage and let the prices reflect it Do away with tipping unless the service is extraordinary. Most of the time I feel like I'm pity tipping. Service was mediocre but if I don't make up for the owner's failure to pay the true cost of labor provided by the waitress, then she might get evicted or be unable to feed her kids

What does this have to do with public school? I know plenty of idiots who went to private school.

People who have to sit there and calculate the tip down to the cent are weird. Just slap down a $5 or $10 and be done with it

I never understood the oldies tipping for coffee. The tip is usually more than the bill and coffee is cheap asf.

Do you refuse to accept bonuses or commission at your work, or are you just a hypocrite?

Isn't the net effect the same, unless you tip less than the restaurant would charge because of bad service?

Well 15% was the fairly average tip for a long time...but no that doesn't bother me. What does bother me is when you have some electronic system and there is an automatic minimum. 15% is for basic arse service. 20+%is for good service. What if it's bad service?

I don’t tip for takeout. For takeout, I’m leaving my home to go pick up the food. Tipping $10 to an employee for handing me a bag curbside, yeah that’s a negative.
