It's a goddamned guide for people who can't calculate.

Are you upset that these suggested percentages start at 15%?

If you actually are an MD like someone suggested, you sure seem to be a cheap one. Take food home from the cafeteria next time.
WTF?

The whole point of the post was to see what opinions were.

Scruffy was in a discussion with someone on whether putting those percentages on the bill would result in higher base tips, since many people just write a round number like $10 and don’t calculate the percentage.

If you show them that what they were tipping was actually less than 10, 15, or 20%, would at least a portion of the group tip more?

Or, would it result in a decrease in larger tips?

They are just paid an hourly wage. Tipping is just part of our culture. It's the positive reinforcement to do a better job. It ( building the tip in menu item price) didn't work because guests didn't like it ,as a whole. Guests want to fell special and the servers knowing that thier
compensation depends on them going about and beyond depends on it.

5 may not be, but $5.00 arguably is.

I frequent a restaurant in ascension parish. With this curb side service, I’ll tip up to 50 percent because I want to restaurant to succeed. Been a regular for about 16 years and I enjoy the men and women who work there.

But...there is one lady server there who accused me of disrespecting her-which was not true. I saw her as a polite friend and I would engage in conversations with her as if she were a relative. She question my motives for giving her a birthday card with $40 in it.

Now during the pandemic she will not come to my car and avoids me. I wasn’t looking for a sexual relationship with this 30 year old married lady. I was being friendly to her AND the the other workers.

Feel disrespected by her actions. After all I have practically kept this business operating during this pandemic. Some gratitude ?!
