It's what happens when everything in the world says just worry and focus on you. Only you matter.

This is what happens when you destroy the traditional family unit and castigate women for being stay at home moms unless your husband is loaded.

At least 2 of em are. One of those are killing each other at a high enough rate to not increase their population numbers too much though

When you actually have to pay for and feed your own it’s not so easy.

This is what happens when young folks cannot afford to raise families.

Having a baby these days is expensive as shite. Not sure I’d have any if I was in my 20’s or 30’s today.

Exactly. In today’s world both parents most likely have to work to support the family but also women now hold more demanding careers so the family size is drastically reduced.

It's also what happens when everyone is saddled with hundreds of thousands in debt, housing prices result in mortgages that are 40-60% of net income, public schools fail, and all social safety nets evaporate.

If you are young and have a good family support system it's not so bad. Otherwise day care is stupendously expensive.

It’s almost like if we’d have just stayed having babies we wouldn’t have “needed” to import foreign labor and instead kept a more cohesive society, big families and a better economy.

Oddly enough it's expensive unless you are poor.

This is probably the biggest issue - both husband and wife are barely making it with both salaries - adding a child would be detrimental

Correct.

We should go the Poland route and incentive the blue collar traditional family.
