Time lapse of the future (Long range - we mean nothing)

30-minute Youtube video that no one has time for, but it's pretty engaging. It spends no time talking about global warming shite or how we are killing ourselves, but is a look into the (potential) long range future of our universe. What do we currently think is going to be happening quadrillions of years from now? This is a fun breakdown of our current understanding and expectations.
TL-DW version: We as a species will likely die out before we gain conclusive proof of how the universe(s?) really, really work. We could not be more meaningless in the grand scheme of things, as all things fade to black.

Hmmm. Something to think about while I sit in my cube, eat a breakfast bar, and read bullshite emails about artificial deadlines.

Yep, those deadlines are meaningless as well.

Its all relative my bro, what you do with the very finite, short amount of time allotted to you is up to you, so better enjoy it.
But yeah in the grand scheme of things we arent shite other than some energy that coalesced over billions of years and became self aware, traveling on a bunch of dirt particles somewhere in the vastness of the Milky Way Galaxay which is one of a trillion galaxies in the universe, which is pretty tight and special imo.
Much less to be channeling electromagnetic energy in the form of recognizable language, communicating with people all over the world on an obscure sports message board. We have come a long way in a short amount of time.

If you really believed that, you wouldn’t have taken the time to post it on this board.
Your body knows something your brain does not. You act as if there is meaning in the world because there is.
Look beyond matter. Try to fathom consciousness. Try to understand value structures.
God is all around you. God is not a spaghetti monster, nor a man with a beard in the clouds. God speaks order out of chaos. Listen to Wisdom speaking and know there is God.
We are not meaningless. We are made to love God and to love each other.

I find that concept strangely comforting.

BR still won't have a loop.

I’m just wondering what happens first: nuclear self-destruction or the robot uprising.

I certainly will, champ.
And I’ll continue to pray for those of this generation who have been blinded to truth. I would strongly urge you to revisit the classical philosophers before you accept these empty headed notions of the post-modernists.
Nihilism is a tragic mental condition if adopted by one man. It’s murderous and tyrannical if it becomes the belief of a large enough minority of people. Beware.

I’ll bump this thread in a quadrillion years. By that time we’ll be OT rating four-tit chicks from the Andromeda galaxy.

FWIW, a lack of belief in gods is not nihilism.

Speak for yourself. Winning my case against the HOA to install a manatee mailbox will be remembered by HOAs for millions of years to come.

That’s true. Humanism is the most obvious example, but it’s pretty vapid.
No, as far as nihilism, I was characterizing the statement, “We could not be more meaningless”.

That video is a masterpiece.
ETA: it’s a video that actually “really makes you think”
