Was gonna do tile, but my sister says the grout cleaning is a bitch. So now I'm looking at other options. Like some type of faux tile shower panel.

Anyone know of good options?

Tile will typically look the best. Yes, the grout has to be cleaned, but if you’re disciplined about doing it, it shouldn’t be bad. I’m pretty sure the grout can also be sealed to limit what moisture does to it.

Also, if your tile job involves a lot of cuts or patterns, get a pro to do it if you don’t have experience with tile.

I’m not an expert on tile, but my Dad has owned a tile company for 30+ years.

I have lived in several different places and my favorite has been cultured marble.

Tile and stonework look the best, but I agree with your sister that it is just not worth it due to the maintenance and cleaning effort...

Inserts just feel cheap to me...

I currently have a shower made with slabs of cultured marble and like it a lot. It is solid as hell and easy to keep clean.

My grout is Snow White and it hardly ever needs to be cleaned. Installing tile is much more costly, especially around a window or doing an insert.
Much more classy though.

go with tile, you will be very happy that you did

you seal the grout once a year and never have issues

anything you put in there will need to be cleaned no matter what

if you pick a dark color grout such as gray then you dont have to clean it as often as you would with a white grout

I don't know the cultured marble is sounding good right now.

Cultured marble, the stone filled type, is very popular right now. It's like the panels that were popular in the 80s and 90s, but used granite mixed with the resin rather than a paint and swirl like back in the day. They are simple to keep clean and less likely to leak than tile.

Have a Portland cement plaster shower made with a smooth surface then paint. It will last forever.

Out of those, definitely go tile. I just did subway tile in mine with an inlay for shampoo and whatnot. Matches the cast iron tub perfectly

Tile with epoxy grout.

Subway tile is timeless and 12x24 is the rage now.

Tile/grout in a shower sucks donkey balls. Sealing grout will only last 3-5 months and if you do small tiles on the floor of the shower you will immediately regret it when you are sealing the grout.

I much prefer nice white fiberglass shower inserts as they look nice and clean super easy. If you just love the look of tile, I'd recommend looking at a compromise and do large tiles (less grout needed therefore less to seal) with a fiberglass floor/basin. I had this setup before and it was easy to keep clean as tile walls don't need re-sealing that often.

cultured marble is a great option too, you cant go wrong with that or tile but those two are really the only two options you should consider using.

tile is easy and cheap (relatively) and something you can do yourself, where as cultured marble is something you have to pay for custom installation so while its a nicer look, it costs a lot more

Cultured marble should be less than a tile shower. Most of the work in a tile shower is in the floor (pan). Novice people would probably be okay doing walls, but do not do the floors. The marble pans are easy, I actually do quite a few marbella pans and tile walls to get a custom look, but low maintenance, and near leak proof. Stone style marbella showers usually run about 2500-3500 depending on size.

better stick with fiberglass, the tile would be too heavy for the floor in your single wide to support

Tile looks best initially. Cleaning later on is a bitch and leaks will eventually occur at some point. Cultured marble is easiest.

Can cultured marble be glued to concrete board? Most videos seems to show moisture resistent gypsum
