You should not go tubing if you do not know how to swim.

LPSO needs to ban alcohol from the river (tragic, I know) and we wouldn't have these drownings.
GTFO.

We got a canoe stuck in a down tree on the bogue chitto once in MS. Open end facing up river at 90 degrees off tilt. So essentially the water was flowing into the open top of the canoe. Each end was wedged into fork in the tree. Took us 4 hours to saw through the branch and get it out.
People can easily get a leg stuck in a branch and be held under in just a few feet of water.

One of my buddies slipped at the edge of the ledge one time and came up short of the water and hit a stump. He popped up like it was nothing and was ok. Looking back at it now, we're fortunate that none of us were seriously injured.
I heard they climbed trees and dove into the river and drowned

if you are talking about the bogue chitto in mccomb, my family owns the camp on the big bluff everyone jumps off of. I cant tell you how many times over the years they have had to airlift people out of there. Broken backs, necks, limbs, etc. People have drown, alot of bad things happen when teens, alcohol, and water are involved

thats it. They had the Wildlife and Fisheries agents arresting people the last time we went. They were on a road at the top and would put you in cuffs when you got to the top.

That happened once to me too. It took all 4 of us to free the canoe from a branch that was holding the boat on the inside. Even on these rivers without any rapids the water is still really powerful.

Hell yeah it is. We had 3 of us standing on it and it wouldn't budge an inch.
Also we used a swiss army knife to saw the one of the branches off. Thats why it took so long.

I'll never understand how people can type jibberish like that and not give a shite that they look like they have the education of a fire hydrant.

I was wondering when you said that earlier why it took that long, even if underwater.
ETA: I also thought it was funny that a guy named Topwater Trout posted that he's a good swimmer.

I went 9 days ago, and it was crazy high and the current was FAST. I heard 2 sets of people screaming bloody murder. Some people were tethered together and the trees sticking up in the middle would catch the rope and pull the tubes under water. They said they saved 3 people from drowning with the boat. I knew someone was going to drown eventually.. I was thinking women and children had no business being out there, but it looks like nobody should have been.
