thats it. They had the Wildlife and Fisheries agents arresting people the last time we went. They were on a road at the top and would put you in cuffs when you got to the top.

yep when i was in high school everyone went every saturday and drank and tubed... several years after they made it no drinking and arrest people as they got of. Game wardens would sit at the boat ramp waiting, they also had others hiding along the river watching

haven't been in years. The water is shitty and full of logs and other crap that cuts the hell out of you. They seemed to not even try to remove shite from that area. No idea why people pay them for that crap

My friends and I have talked before about how much money that place has to make. There are VERY little costs surrounding the running of TT, and literally thousands of people daily on weekends and holidays for basically half the year at least. That place has to rake in millions.

thought the same myself. Not much overhead and they don't seem to invest shite into it.

insurance could be high but they seem to make it pretty clear they're liable for nothing

sad to hear this. I have only been tubing once out there and a couple hundred yards from the end, my suit got hooked on a branch and the current was pretty strong at that point. I was really struggling and the water level was just high enough that I could barely stick my head up for a breath between attempts to dislodge myself. Fortunately I am strong enough to have gotten unhooked but I could definitely see the possibility of something like that happening, especially after a good rain. terrible news to hear this story.

^^i posted this in the thread yesterday about this. i could definitely see something like this happening for inexperienced swimmers. luckily i can swim well enough and I am strong enough to have been able to fight against the current that day.

Seriously? Damn how much does it cost to rent a tube and get a ride back?

It is $20 for a normal tube, and the prices go up from there.

They have to pay minimum wage for their workers, gas for the buses, insurance, I think they lease where they drop you in at, and for tubes. Probably something else I'm missing, but nothing that would prevent them from making millions.

Probably make $500 every bus drop off.

I assume they still have the same broke arse bus that they transport people in. That thing and maintenance is likely hella cheap.

And I'm sure they have minimal insurance. I'm not exactly sure how the legal side of it works, but I imagine the waiver pretty much absolves them from any liability whatsoever. Not sure waht insurance you'd need on top of that if you're not really liable for anything.

Everything else is basically done outside and during the day, thus very minimal (if any) electrical usage. And I assume they get the rafts/tubes in mass bulk for cheap.

Outside of salaries and whatnot, the vast majority of it has to be profit.

How much do they charge to do it? If it's like 20 or 30 bucks, and there are 5+ thousand people over the course of one weekend, then that's ~100-150K right there in a single weekend. I imagine the numbers jump up for holidays and special functions and shite like that.

Right, and add in alcohol and it's a wonder how something like that doesn't happen several times a week out there. That's why I was saying earlier that the amount of injuries/deaths there seem REALLY low (at least based on the ones you hear about anyway).

They used to make between 2 and 3 million every tubing season a few years back, not sure if they still rake that in

On a side note, the blacks in the area are blaming these deaths on the lack of free swimming lessons for blacks in the BR area, no bullshite
