Have to ruin the kid,” added another. “This does not surprise me in anyway what so ever. We moved up here a few years ago and I have never seen anything as racist as this place,” wrote a third.

Those comments are tame for this place, but that is pretty harsh to put in print in the WaPo.

That is pretty true. You go in the wrong hood in Sport/ Bossier you're apt to get capped just because you're white and in their hood. Same as Nola and other places with a large black populations. Terribly racist places.

well ultimately, the charges are stupid
but it's good that both got charged b/c regardless of anything else, that's the ONLY fair way to deal with this if you're going to actually prosecute kids for sexting

This story is terrible, but Shaun King is such a fricking hack. I do believe this kid is getting screwed over because he's black, but I'm confident it has nothing to do with being in the "Deep South." This shite could and would happen in any community across the country.
ETA: Apparently she was charged too and I was fooled by the misinformation. King is even more of a hack.
