Indian Tourist Mauled at Phuket Zoo’s “Drugged Tiger Photo Op” Gets Refund and Lifetime Pass
PHUKET, Thailand — In a wild mishap at Phuket Zoo, famed for its controversial “drugged tiger photo sessions,” Indian tourist Arjun Patel, 29, was lightly mauled during a selfie attempt gone awry. The zoo, notorious for sedating its tigers to allow up-close visitor photos, saw its usually drowsy star, a tiger named Sleepy Paws, briefly perk up when Arjun shouted, “Smile, big guy!”
Arjun escaped with minor scratches and a torn shirt but called the ordeal “terrifyingly awesome.” In a surprising move, the zoo refunded his $20 ticket and handed him a lifetime free pass, dubbed by staff as the “Survivor’s Special.”
“I got mauled, but I’m basically a zoo VIP now,” Arjun quipped, clutching his bandaged arm. Zoo manager Somchai Boonmee shrugged off criticism, saying, “Our tigers are usually very chill. Arjun just caught Sleepy Paws on a bad day. Come back soon!”
Animal rights groups slammed the zoo’s practices, but Sleepy Paws, now back to napping, seemed unfazed. Local officials are reviewing the incident, while Arjun plans his next visit—camera ready, but from a safer distance.

So why did the Handler tell the guy to kneel? He told the guy to kneel here in the video.
For a photo op.
That’s why he immediately poked the Tiger to distract him from kneeling.
Look. I’m right about this. Just trust me.

If these people are going to video everything, can’t they move around and get better shots of the mauling.

The tiger was overwhelmed by the body odor and confused it with the odor of a rotting carcass

So, the handler knew that crouching beside the tiger would piss him off so he told the guy to do it anyway & his plan was to diffuse the situation by poking the tiger in the face with a stick?

Did the tiger poop hot lava after having Indian food?

This is also how I looked after your mom gave me that dome.

I am not an expert, but kneeling down with your head close to the tiger's head does not seem like a good idea. Caged animals that are somewhat tame are used to associating with humans who are standing up, in authoritative positions. Kneeling down close to a Tiger just seems like serving your head up on a platter.

Hopefully it was a phone scammer.

I don’t understand people. I have no urge to go to a tiger petting zoo and frick around with the tigers like they’re house cats.

They needed Joe Exotic there

Correct. He’s done it 100x
But they’re wild animals. But that time the Tiger wasn’t having it. You’ve see it 100x when a wild animal attacks. You can’t predict it.
