Ties in the workplace

Part I
Is it true that a tie is really that good looking in the workplace? In some people's opinion, if a guy doesn't wear a tie right, he just looks silly and it would be better if he just wore a polo. The other day a coworker of mine was wearing his tie down to his nether region and I noticed other people jeering at him in absolute disgust. I, on the other hand, believe that it is quite liberating to wear a tie in any form that you want to, and me and my significant other have actually signed up for a tie making class in the ninth ward. Looking forward to presenting my hand crafted work for all to see.
End Part I
Part II
I have noticed that, over the past two years, ties have seemed to go completely out of style. I actually read an article by Steve Cokely about how casual dress in the work place is seemingly taking precedence over formal attire, which is really a shame. What is your opinion on ties?

Ties are handy at work, so that when you realize you'll never get out of your dead-end job, you can hang yourself with it.

I hate ties; always have. I'll wear it if I have to or if I should but I won't like it

I have to wear them in court
Otherwise I don’t wear them unless it’s a wedding, a funeral, or some nice function where it’s appropriate

I don't like wearing them and I'm glad that I don't have to anymore. I like the business casual trend. I'd wear Sperrys, Levis and a tshirt to work every day if they'd let me

i don't understand this troll

I think the business world has gotten a little too casual and if a company has a non-casual policy then they are looked down upon as being behind the times. Besides ties can get stuck in the Fooseball pockets I guess.

Only acceptable on Tie Tuesday.

I am not satisfied with the conduct of this division! Some of you men are under the impression that having been at Anzio entitles you not to wear neckties! You are wrong! Neckties will be worn in this area!

I’ve haven’t had to wear one for work in over ten years and I have no plans on taking a job where one is required.
I have nothing against them, but they’re pointless and I try to avoid adding pointless rituals/tasks to my life.

I wear a bow tie almost everyday

I have to wear a tie everyday. I’m actually supposed to be in a suit but it’s too damn hot in South LA for that.

The guy that doesn't know how to wear a tie worth a damn probably doesn't look any better in a polo.
If you're wearing a tie without a jacket, you have to be careful to avoid the dreaded 2004 sophomore at homecoming look that so many people have.

Workplace attire is never an issue if you are good looking enough. I can wear jeans and a white T-shirt and look great.
Sorry you and your coworkers are unattractive.

The most useless article of clothing ever conceived.

I remember one time I saw some 19 year old kid wearing a tie with a polo shirt. Poor kid. I'm glad I had people to teach me how to dress when I was growing up.

First off, I have no idea what you are trying to get at with this thread. The story about your dipshit co worker has nothing to do with the rest of your shitty thread.
Y tho?

2nd after that is wearing a jacket for any purpose other than to be comfortable in cold weather. I had to wear a coat and tie for about half my working life, fortunately I now own only one tie, one suit, and rarely have a need for them.
