I actually read an article by Steve Cokely about how casual dress in the work place is seemingly taking precedence over formal attire, which is really a shame. What is your opinion on ties?

I think overall they are stupid for your everyday work place kind of situation.
The tech firms learned that a decade or more ago and all have really relaxed dress codes out west.

I would rather pick up garbage than have to wear a tie every day to work.

I cannot wait until this is 100% accurate.

Ties suck.

Since US firms have gotten more strict on employee benefits, they have to reach for more low cost forms of keeping employee satisfaction levels up. More casual dress has been one.

Didn't know there was such an anti-tie sentiment among men these days.

I wear ties when they're appropriate, love them. Own about 60 of them. Don't wear them to work as I wear scrubs.

I try to avoid having a noose around my neck if possible.

Your tie is just a collar and leash, a symbol that you are a slave to the wealthy elite

Meh. I wear a tie 2 or 3 times a year for dinner and another 4 or 5 times a year for charity events and balls. That’s enough for me

When the former FBI director - A pretty conservative job one would think - is going before the public tdefend himself against the President of the United States - A man who was always dressed for the occasion - That says a lot about the importance of ties.

In some people's opinion, if a guy doesn't wear a tie right, he just looks silly and it would be better if he just wore a polo.

i think the suit/no tie look in the workplace is sloppy af

on the other hand, a tie without a jacket is just as bad
