Big red went in the crapper and we still treat them like some kind of threat and cut them off from the western world. Cuba’s choke hold is one of the most bizarre foreign policy flexes in US History.

Nope, couldn't have. Even though there is another poster who claimed to have almost the same conversation with a total stranger.

I've had these conversations with friends of mine. You know, having drinks or dinner and talking about things going on like adults do after we've covered all the goings on a n each other's lives.

You don't have to believe anything, but to just immediately dismiss something you have absolutely zero clue about shows how you operate.

Agreed.

We should have been killing them with American soft power as soon as the USSR went away.

They simply aren't allowed to make more than wage scale. Taxi drivers are among the highest paid citizens but if they start making too much the government comes down on them with more taxes and fees.

We stayed at an Airbnb hosted by a former surgeon. His pay as a surgeon amounted to about $100 a month.

There were actually a decent amount of cubans back in the day who studied at LSU because of the ag program.

I'm a skeptic about outlandish politicized claims made by anonymous strangers on the internet. I don't believe your friends told you "the greatest thing to ever happen to Cuba was not instituting racist US policies." Sorry.

I thought Cuba was heaven on earth. That's what I've been told by a few people who are of the progressive persuasion. They've told me the best thing to ever happen there was that the US hasn't been able to implement our racist and unfair policies in place there.

This conversation never happened.

Do you think American progressives don't love to brag about Cuba's "100% literacy rate," "free medical system," and all the other socialist things they want implemented here? I can most assure you they do. I had a progressive tell my wife, a Cuban who's family was tortured by the Castro regime before floating to Miami on a raft, about how wonderful the Cuban experience was unless you were "a 1%'er".

Hopefully Fidel is burning in hell right now, and his brother joins him very soon.

Pretty sure this was even used in campaigns for multiple presidential election cycles.

LINK

I mean Bernie Sanders sure loves it. That's about as mainstream as it gets for progressives.
