The PRX is nice. Not really my style but I see why people like it. From the ones I've seen, it looks like they wear on the larger side.

They actually have some quartz watches that look pretty good too like the PRC.

I’m just getting into watches. What is better between quartz and automatic?

You could get a Tag for a few hundred more and would hold its value much better

Its not so much whats better

Quartz technically keeps better time or so Im told

Automatic requires much more expert watchmaking and is thus more expensive and more sought after. You also need to wear it a few hours every day or have a winder

I really enjoy reading these watch threads. I get Walmart watches. They keep time and look alright to me. The ones that come with a wallet and bracelet look a little better sometimes.

That’s a good looking dress watch, and Tissot is a Swatch group brand so you’ll likely have good support if you need it. I’ve looked at a few watches in the Swatch group with the Powermatic 80 movement, but haven’t pulled the trigger on any of them. I’ve been on a microbrand kick lately.

I’ve had one. They are a quality watch.

I had one at the earlier end of my venturing into watches.

That said, at the price point, I’d give brands like Hamilton a look

PRS516 from the ex-wife. I don't consider watches an investment, I don't give two shits if they "hold their value," that's what guns and ammo are for.

It's classy looking and nice, but not as dressy as the one you have selected. My only quibble is that I'm close to spending about as much money replacing the battery over the last ten years than the watch is worth. It's about $30 each time, and nobody can do it same day (unless you're in Poland, because they're obsessive about watches.) You wouldn't have that problem with your model, but it's my only critique of my "fancy" Tissot watch. I have a steel band, I don't know how their leather bands hold up.

I've owned Tissot for over 15 years. I have a Heritage (special wear), & a PRX Powermatic 80 (everyday wear). Both have been fine watches.

I own over 20 different brand watches & wear my Tissot the most. No other reason than, I like it.

That was going to be my question, how do they stack up with Hamilton?

Tissot makes solid watches and a reasonable value when you get them from a discounter like Joma. There are no objective reasons not to get one if you like the particular style. They really made a splash jumping into the integrated bracelet arena with their PRX line. I admit to really liking the one below even though it treads a little heavily on the AP Tapisserie dial language but it is 1/50th of the price.

Tissot is a good brand of watch...

i rock a Citizen Eco-Drive perpetual calendar on various nato straps for my every day watch, and I have an Orient automatic with sweeping second hand, that I wear for more upscale events... both are relatively very cheap, but serve my purposes for exactly what I need them for...

Tissot is in that next tier up from these watches.... a tier that I don't see the need to enter quite yet... maybe one day, but for now, these two serve me well.... i get a lot of compliments on the Citizen, actually
