Had some people over Saturday evening and one of my baws says his cousin was hanging out with him that day and asked if he could come over too. Of course I said sure, more the merrier.

Well the cousin shows up with his dog (good looking lab) and asks if he could bring him in the house. I politely say no and that he can hang in backyard. Baw didnt want to do that, didnt want him to escape, yada yada, just ends up going home kinda butthurt that I am so uptight about the dog.

My buddy said sorry, he assumed the guy was gonna bring the dog home before he came over.

So who was the dick in this situation?

He is.

I've brought my dog places before, but only after he was invited. Mind you, everyone in the world except for Owl, loves my dog.

It was also always outside situtions.

I love dogs but I would never bring my dog over to a friend’s house without asking first.

I wouldn’t even really think of bringing my dog to social events at people’s homes in the first place

the normalization of dogs everywhere is so weird

i suspect it has something to do with the push to make the terms “dog mom” and “dog dad” acceptable.. it’s my fur baby!!! if bill can bring his kid then my dog is welcome too!!

Weirdos.

The dude with the dog was presumptuous af. I usually have my dog's kennel in the back of my truck. If I'm going to a stranger's house I'm not asking if she can go inside. I'm asking if I can leave her in the kennel in his garage or something. Otherwise, I'd leave my dog home if I didn't have to have her with me.

no one? Seems everyone handled the situation appropriately. You set reasonable boundaries and he complied.

The other guy. People and their need to bring their dog everywhere is weird as hell, let alone a stranger's house where you have no idea of their living situation.

Very trashy and disrespectful. I only bring my pet duck to stranger’s houses.
