Found a few reasonable apartments in va beach just now.

All of the 1 beds I've found in Norfolk and Ghent are right at a grand.

Navy friends don't have good things to say about it.

Not chastising you but the Tidewater area is not all military. Tidewater or Coastal Plain is just the name of the eastern part of the State.

Most Navy folks hate it because the locals don't like/trust them. I was lucky to make a bunch of local friends and kind of down played being in the Navy, I wouldn't lie about but I never brought it up first lol a lot of local girls will not mess with sailors at all.

Not really as Poquoson and Grafton are in Hampton Roads but not really military.

I'll allow it though.

My nephew is one of those Boat Guys out there at Little Creek. He lives in Virginia Beach maybe 10 blocks from Ocean Lakes High School. I enjoy going out there. I get a room at a hotel on the beach. He brings his wife and kids so they can go to that part of the beach.

Ain't nobody got time for Poquoson and Grafton, or York County for that matter.
Hampton, Bad News, Norfolk, VA Beach, and Chesapeake is where it's at

It's a surf shop and I don't think it's even on 17th Street any longer.

I used to be scared of Hampton, Newport News and Norfolk just driving by it on 64.

I felt safe but was told to avoid the numbered streets in NN. Wife loved it there and would move back in a heartbeat. But we lived in military housing

I was lucky to only have to do DC/Firefighting training there before reporting to my ship.

I've heard the Norfolk area is really nice

It's really not, stationed there now and we can't wait to GTFO.

It's got a lot of interesting things, some nice areas for a single guy to go, but overall the central demographic really brings the place down. Driving is miserable if you are crossing the bridge with constant traffic, and the high military populous in one central area is never good.

The women there say "we don't drink, we don't smoke, nor frick".

My son goes to school in Norfolk. It has some nice areas but overall it's not good.
