Did anyone else have a hard time deciding whether to chop their dogs nuts off or not? My dog is about three years old and stays inside and is mostly spoiled damn rotten. I brought him to the vet last week for his annual shots and the veterinarian tried to give me a guilt trip for not having his nuts removed. She said that dogs have problems with their nuts all the time and it causes cancer and she sees it every day.

Maybe I'm too old school but I remember our family dog growing up staying outside in a dog house. Everyone's dog for the most part stayed outside back then it seems like and they lived forever. And everyone's dogs still had their balls in tact. I need some damn good reason and evidence in order to make that decision about my boy's balls.

As a male, I couldn't bring it upon myself to chop my little guys nuts off.

At the very least get him some Neuticles so he'll still have something to lick.

Nope. Vet recommended it also. Not happening. My boxer Bo will die with his nuts intact

80% (YES 80 PERCENT) chance of him ending up with an enlarged prostate at some point if you don't neuter him. So chances are that you will neuter him, it just depends on when... With or without him going through pain

I'm no testicle expert, but from what I've read it is best to leave them intact for a couple years. Later in life the chances of cancer go up if they are still attached.

Never had or knew of a dog who had medical complications due to keeping his god-given nuts.

Too many puppies in the world. Nueter him before he ever gets a chance to pop a bitch.

The only reason that I know this is because I had to neuter mine after 9 years

If he were an outdoor pet this may be a consideration but he is an indoor dog and I don't have any other dogs

You picked him... Ask him "would you rather have me, or you balls?"
Then stuff some deer guts inside your fruit of the looms, bite a rope and see what happens... he would never hurt you, because he loves you...
Why you hurt your dog?

Always had dogs and have neutered just one bc we hoped it might calm his aggression towards other dogs (didn't work, he just got fat AF)

If you aren't gonna keep your dog from roaming around and contributing to our ever worsening and sickening stray and abandoned dog problem then he/she ought to be fixed but I don't buy the whole health problems angle your vet was going for. That's bullshite

I don't doubt it happens, but I do doubt there's an 80% or even 50% probability it will be needed at some point ("chances are...").

Your vet is full of shite. Remove the balls as they get cancer all the time.

More like remove the balls so I can get more $$$$$.

As a male, I would never cut off another animal's nuts. That is nuts to think that I or any other male would.

Check out this cats reaction to losing his nuts

If you are worried about your dog being a horn dog, teach your dog abstinence.

I took a dog to get neutered once, the dog developed an infection and I took it back to the vet. The vet prescribed some antibiotics and I took the dog home. That evening the dog died because the infection had spread. I brought back the medicine to the vet and all I got was a card that said, "Sorry for your loss."
