Not to sound insensitive, but this wasn't a normal terrorist attack on the general public, this was targeted on police officers (just as the one in Dallas). If they are not police officers there is absolutely no reason they should be scared to go "into the city."

but the fact they live in Livingston and are scared to come to "the city"...that's a little excessive.

They have been jittery for the last 2 weeks. I'm pretty sure they are the types that get scared anytime they see more than 2 black people together at the same time. I'm honestly amazed they made it in all last week with the protests going on.

I'll give them tomorrow as an olive branch. They are good employees and I'd rather eat one day than the time/expense of replacing them. However anything beyond Monday is coming out of their pocket not mine, and if it persists I'll have to cut bait and move on.

Im so tired of the people freaking out over social media and all the lies that are spread and people believe it. Guess what people in Livingston, Central, Prairieville, Zachary, and Gonzales? Your traffic sucks, crime is an issue, and being a police officer is dangerous too.

I would tell them report to work or you will be issued and unexcused absence

I live in the area it has been quiet.
This area is not in the city and the nearest sheriffs office is on Baringer and Airline hwy.
I would tell them unless they take sick day or vacation day they will be written up.
People panic way too much.
Now if it is on Airline near the Police Headquarters I would have concearns.

What kind of person even thinks to ask for the day off?

I had to drive to Baton Rouge tonight to go to work. Nothing happened and everything looked like a typical Sunday night in Baton Rouge.

Only noticeable difference was that I couldn't take Airline to work for obvious reasons.

Travelling to Baton Rouge is perfectly safe right now, no excuse not to come into work tomorrow. Seems like a convenient excuse.

Well, here's a thought: What would the school's do tomorrow if they were in session?

My guess is they would all close...including LSU.

Tell them that you understand and they can take tomorrow off and that you will be in the office next Saturday and would appreciate that they come in on Saturday as well to keep things for "project x" on pace.

Bluff them...Even if there is nothing for them to do but sit there and surf the Internet for 8 hours on Saturday.

I bet their tunes will change real fast and they find a way to brave it into work tomorrow morning.

My wife works less than half a mile from where the shoot happened. She's going to work tomorrow.

If they have vacation time to spend, it's not a big deal. I wouldn't let that shite fly past tomorrow, though.

This is similar to people from up north asking me as a resident of BR how I survived Katrina, because they don't associate the different areas differently.

To an LP resident, After hearing warnings multiple times for people who live in Baton Rouge to stay inside, most commuters aren't concerned with what areas are hot spots. It's all BR and its all getting lumped into one mental area.

TLDR- LP ain't going to BR to get shot at. Dock their pay indefinitely till they return.

You would feel like a real douche if something happened tomorrow and you threatened them with their job to drive there.

I work a half mile from where the shootings were in Dallas. Our office closed for the day after, but a bunch of us went in anyways. You know how hard it is to work on one monitor?
