Do you think it had the intended result? How many of her friends are envious of her perfect hubs now?

frick, man, this kind of narcissistic behavior might result in even more parents emulating the first and spending quality time with their kids.

I mean, bloody hell. The horror.

Spending one on one time with your daughter is perfectly normal and a good thing. Calling her a princess and saying she deserves to be treated like one and posting on facebook about it is weird. Just spend time with your daughter without trying to collect internet points

This all day. Perfectly stated. Personally I like taking my soon to be 2 year old daughter places without my phone and without taking a hundred pictures sometimes. Call me selfish but sometimes it's nice to be unplugged from technology and maybe experience a day at the park or a day getting ice cream that only you and later she will remember.

But at the same time screw those assholes bashing the guy for doing this however it's labeled. Just being a good dad.

I did this throughout all my kids school years. I would check one child out not all three of my kids. We would go to lunch or to the beach. It's a great time to spend one on one time with each child. Call it whatever the quality time with your kids is what matters.

Eta: sorry I am at work

No kidding. The horror of some poor kid getting a special, over the top evening with dad.

My wife and I do this with our kids a few times a year but go big on Valentines Day. It's really fun and the kids look forward to it every year.

Anyone that has a problem with a Dad spending time with his daughter is a miserable person.

And who cares if it gets posted on Facebook; that is what Facebook is for. Mind your own damn business if you don't like Facebook posts.

Don't call theme dates, but every now and then it's nice to take my daughter to breakfast or lunch without her mother and brother.

I have zero social media and I take my daughter(5) out on dates frequently.

To answer your question...

I’d like to take this moment to remind everyone that being treated ‘like a princess’ would actually involve being married off at the age of 12 to a man you’ve never met to secure a political alliance. Also, if you want to raise a woman who has a healthy attitude towards men, giving her one afternoon a month where she has to look pretty before she’s given treats? Not the way to do it. But there’s a bigger issue at play here than playing fast and loose with the concept of ‘dating’ and that’s the people who are queuing up to congratulate a man for spending some time with his kid. Think about that. Do we see mothers getting 89 thousand Facebook likes for mopping up sick and doing the school run? Of course not. What do we go nuts for fathers spending time with their kids? Why do we call it ‘babysitting’ when a dad is active in childcare? Why are we surprised that the person who helped create the child then deigns to spend time with it?

First, I feel bad for this person - evidently they weren't loved as a child.
Second, I don't go to that extreme, but I do daddy/daughter dates. It's real easy for me to bond with my boys, and I include my girls on fishing, hunting, camping, etc. - but I see that as them coming into my world. On our "dates", I'm in their world.

A "date" implies that there's a romantic aspect.

What's wrong man you never went out on a date with your sister? Next time you have lunch with your boss tell everyone in the office your boss is taking you out on a date. I'm sure no one will bat an eye.

To other posters: I'm sure the FB dad is an absolutely fantastic father, but pretending that some of the wording cant come off as a bit odd to strangers is just being a tad bit obtuse.

This.

I can't figure out how so many of you have so many stupid fcking friends on FB that it has ruined it for you.
I figured out after a few years on it that I wanted to delete the people selling crap, preaching all day, being racist assholes, etc. and my list of friends is around 150 people or so.

Guess what? I have a shite ton of family members, close friends, and some co-workers who enjoy seeing what my family and I are up to. So now I'm not walking around town with a 5X7 photos to share with everyone or sending letters now. This way they are all seeing it and I don't see the issue.
