What is going on with this road? It’s wide enough for 4 lanes. Anyone know the history here?

Also, who is Thomas H Delpit? I’m assuming Grant Delpit’s dad or grandpa?

This reminds me of my pee wee football team where Lil Anthony (pronounced Anfuhny) was 7 years old and was faster than any kid in our elementary school. He ran barefoot and he wuh fas yo.

The junior high players would say,
“Look at dat mug. Yo Anfuhny fass.”

Not really wide enough for 4 lanes. Wide enough for 3 and that's what they did so they could put the turn lanes in like the one down by the car traveling away from the camera.

That's me. I ran out of money and couldn't afford to paint the lanes.

I don't know this for fact, but I drive through that area regularly. My guess is most of the houses and or businesses in that area don't really have adequate parking spaces. This allows room for street parking plus enough room for two lanes of travel.

Once you get to the Garden District area you still have street parking but not enough room for two lanes of traffic.

The old areas of Baton Rouge have great road design. Large roads and normally laid out in proper city blocks. It’s a shame the residents have gone to crap.

Do you even go to Delpit’s to get chicken? Chicken Shack! Still called “Delpit’s” by the old BR blacks to this day. I love the history of Delpit’s but I’m not a fan of the cake batter chicken.

It was renamed in 1980. Was previously known as East Blvd, and Texas St.

They are going to put sidewalks on Perkins? Is that what "pedestrian facilities" means? Should be interesting.

This used to be East Boulevard. T.H. Delpit was Joe Delpit's dad; I'm sure they're both related somehow to Grant. Joe's daughters were in high school.
