Yes, and the East Blvd line was electric! I believe there are a few spots where you can still see the tracks.

The junior high players would say,
“Look at dat mug. Yo Anfuhny fass.”

That's the incorrect usage. It should be:

Yo, Anthony is fast as a mug.."

It's essentially the kid-approved version of "as a motherfricker."

This concludes today's lesson on 80s/90s kid talk/slang.

You’d be correct. But I am too.

They said; “look at that motherfricker” as well.

Thought you were joking

Chicken Shack and a public swimming pool

quote:

Do you know who this is? Thomas H. Delpit Drive in South Baton Rouge is named for Thomas H. Delpit, who was a key figure in the Old South Baton Rouge Community.

Delpit, a native of New Orelans, moved to Baton Rouge during his early 20s. In 1935, he opened an ice cream shop a couple blocks away from the only high school for Negros in a ten-parish area, McKinley High School. Two years later, he transitioned from ice cream to chicken, and Delpit’s Chicken Shack was born.

Mr. Delpit started his business with only 34 cents capital (about $7 today, adjusted for inflation). He and his beloved wife, the former Edmae LaMotte, were among the most successful black entrepreneurs Baton Rouge ever produced. Mrs. Delpit handled the finances—even running the cash register when needed. Mr. Delpit handled the food preparation and day-to-day operations.
The duo was involved in every aspect of daily life within the South Baton Rouge community. In 1946, the Delpit’s contributed money to help fund a public pool for African American children, which still exists today. They also initiated several support organizations during World War II and participated in various efforts through the years to uplift the black community.

Mr. Delpit died in 1959; Mrs. Delpit passed in 2014, at the age of 99. Delpit’s Chicken Shack, owned and operated by Mr. Delpit’s son, Joe and his life-long friend, Henry Baptiste, continues to provide employment opportunities as well as wonderful cuisine in our community.

It's the oldest restaurant in Baton Rouge.

They need to widen perkins all the way to highland, and give that fricking precast concrete plant its own entrance and exit from the interstate.

Often times in the mornings their escort trucks would block traffic on perkins allowing 5-10 oversized load trucks onto perkins headed towards highland. It took 1 truck longer than 1 green light cycle to clear the intersection. I started gowing around, and inbetween those trucks, i know they did not have a permit to be blocking the roads like they were. They'd often yell and cuss me out, frick em. I was tired of waiting 20 mins to get thru that light to get to work.

Glad I do not live over there anymore.
