This thread reminds me just how much the advocate fricking sucks.

I just hate the fact that they suck and now you have to subscribe. There website had free content. The more traffic the more they make on ads and while I rarely went to the site, I did from time to time and there is no way to justify paying for a subscription with the quality of reporting you get from them.

If you will, take notice that there is not 1 utility owned electric generating facility on that list, yet the government is forcing pretty much every coal burning power plant in America to close by 2030.
Those who are in favor of weakening and eventually killing our country and the American way of life know that America has one of the largest coal fuel supplies in the world, it’s what has kept Americans cooled in 95 degree heat, warm in 30 degree cold, comfortable, productive and competitive as a nation.
So anyone wanting to weaken the American way of life would target those strengths by financially manipulating the government agencies that regulate them and force them out of production, America’s electric utility business is the most government monitored, government regulated, government mandated and government crippled industry in America and as power plants are forced to shut down, all American citizens will feel the affect of electric power shortages and loss in the future just like Texas and other areas did this past winter.
It is no coincidence that the majority of the 20 polluters listed in La are plants owned by major, world wide companies that have in the past and continue now to funnel money and campaign contributions to Louisiana political groups and Federal government political groups in order to bypass many of the regulations that are placed on electric utility companies.

Yep... first exit when leaving LC going into Sulphur. Cities service... that place is old.... and a shite hole lol

I'll say. We were winding coated conduit up towers that were maybe 90' or so. Adding lights to the staircases and platforms etc. I didn't have as much arse then as now and the big Ridgid power threaders would take me off the ground daily like a bucking bronco.

Carbon capture and sequestration technology is very safe. There’s really not much danger at all in the process. It’s stored in hollow salt caverns underground. This is a very big and new-ish technology that’s getting a foothold here in LA

Safe? Maybe. Feasible? -0%

It takes more energy to sequester the CO2 than it did making the CO2... First Law of Physics - there is no free lunch.

Glad to know I have sold product to the top 20 and am doing my part to keep Louisiana's politicians on the golf course and its Baws' F250s at baseball practice between shifts

You’re assuming that it must be financially viable and make sense on its own. You can’t ignore that government intervention (read: subsidies) will make it viable. But it’s 100% technically feasible.

But shooting giant dildos into space (using a shite ton of 'fossil fuels') at the price of "space for everyone" isn't a problem, nor are private jets. don't get me wrong, idgaf, its just the same people bitching about one and not the other.

It is already being done. Governments are subsidizing it.

Pardon my ignorance but how many coal fired power plants does LA have?

The inventory was compiled by David Dismukes, executive director of LSU’s Center for Energy Studies, who will present his findings on Thursday to Gov. John Bel Edwards’ Climate Initiatives Task Force. Dismukes says Louisiana emitted almost 217 metric tons of greenhouse gases in 2018, and that industry accounts for 62% of it.

Even if all of them were shut down tomorrow it wouldn't mean shite because of how much China puts out.

In other words, this story is little more than worthless drivel because it's fingerpointing at the wrong target just to make people feel like they've "at least done something".

Arizona is an example of this correct? Or is it New Mexico? Which probably means the entirety of the Permian Basis is next

footnote: these 20 plants make up for 1/1billionth of the gases that China puts off with no regard.

And it takes a lot more energy to make motor fuel from ethanol versus petroleum, yet we are being forced to squeeze corn into our fuel tanks, affecting the price of virtually every thing in the food chain. Yet it’s been sold to to a gullible public as a green fuel by the government, complicit media and the corn lobby. That’s a MUCH bigger farce than CCS.

I work for company that owns more than one of those plants.

If the world were 100% on renewables energy, I think it would be smart thing for our world.

Getting there...as clear as bat crap.

Directionally, right thing to do.
