What is wrong with not allowing people on the No Fly list to buy guns??
How do you get on that list? And who puts you there? And how many more of your rights do you lose when you end up on it?

There's no due-process. A million + people are on that list and many have no idea why nor how to get off of it. It was a stupid, emotionally driven proposal (the list itself is also dumb, but that's for another day).

Nothing. It's insanity that our elected officials vote against something that 90% of the public supports. LINK LINK
The most bizarre thing to me about the stranglehold that the NRA has over lawmakers is how little money the gun industry actually makes. Smith & Wesson had revenues of $412MM a few years ago, Colt is just over $1BB, Ruger $679MM, etc. (other companies are private). If oil or tobacco had that kind of lobby you'd see 12 year old kids working on off-shore rigs with a Camel Non-filter between their lips.

Hey, I see my Indiana democrat senator on there! I'll have to email him and thank him for not trampling on my rights for one.

Stronger background checks how? How are we going to strengthen them?

Well if you aren't cleared to buy a gun I do think you should know the why and be able to appeal it.
And regarding the existing background check, I have no clue what they ask -- I myself am not a gun owner but my husband has a slew and boys as well. Oldest just bought an AR15 and my inlaws would be "pissed" if they knew. THEY'RE antigun. WTF??

if you accept $7 million dollars from an organization, you lose all credibility when railing against the alternative (McCain).
There's no way he got that much from them for a senatorial campaign. That number has to include contributions from when he ran for president eight years ago.

And the fact that he's been a senator for 20 years.

That is the damn truth. They never stop.

I'm not on it and honestly don't ever give it much thought. I had no idea that you can't find out why you're on it or appeal to get off of it.
Thanks for not calling me a dumbass like the other dude.

Why is it seemingly so fricking hard to post political topics on the Political Board?

Why?? B/c they all had enough common frickin sense to understand that it isn't the actual gun doing the killing and it didn't fit your limp wrist-ed agenda??

Not at all ... I'm not a dumbass for not knowing something. That's why people ask questions.
