Man shoots carjacker in Bywater, New Orleans police say

quote:

A 17-year-old boy is hospitalized after his intended carjacking victim shot him in the neck, according to a New Orleans law enforcement source.

The wounded teen arrived at Tulane Medical Center unresponsive Thursday night and remains intubated Friday morning, the source said.

The juvenile's accomplice in the botched Bywater carjacking, also a 17-year-old boy, admitted to participating in the crime, according to the source.

New Orleans Police Department detectives are seeking the boys' arrests on charges that include armed robbery and illegal firearms possession.

We need this around 100 more times before the crime might start slowing down.

He isn't going after the guy who set off the flash bang. So there is some hope.

The man told police he flung his keys, took cover under a nearby car and pulled out a handgun. He said he saw the teen by his vehicle, pointing a gun at him. The man told police he fired a single shot at the teen and ran for his house.

The man told police he heard someone scream an expletive before both teens drove north on Louisa Street in their own vehicle.

I moved to Birmingham about a month ago and my truck was stolen about ten days ago. No recovery yet. Wish I'd had the chance this guy had

It doesn't matter. If the D.A. charges it is still get to cost a bunch of money and time to prove it was a legit shot.

What’s the charge? Louisiana has essentially the Castle Doctrine for your car.

Hope there is a video to corroborate so this is over quick for the victim.

Why the downvotes? The Orleans DA is putrid, yes. He still doesn’t make the state criminal statutes.

If this kid was carjacking the shooter, there’s no way he gets charged with a crime. The law is the law. This was always how this shite was going to get curtailed.
