It's a beautiful analogy except that the OP is suggesting everyone has to eat the bag of Skittles and because everyone has to eat the bag of Skittles some people with cancer might get neglected or have it discovered in time to successfully fight it and live.

Not something to play around with. In the past few days they have put 12+ people in their late 40s/early 50s with no underlying issues on life support

Because there is very little standardization in testing protocols. Infections are what tax the resources and when they spike, more people die due to lack of resource.
