Pissing away money that equates to roughly several years of college tuition to upgrade their HS baseball experience is one of the dumbest arguments I've heard on the subject.
Yeah, I agree if it's travel ball or college tuition. Believe it or not, a lot of people can afford both

I know some travel ball coaches draw a salary
some do..some dont
If they do it really isnt that much

. I would assume uniforms and some entry fees
yes, and those things are part of the deal..even if you play rec

I will guarantee that a month or so before the Cooperstown tournaments I will see shite for fundraisers
Only one age group goes to Cooperstown, 12 year olds....and not that many go from the Thib/Houma area every year.
Cooperstown isnt cheap..everyone should pay their own way, however each team has to pay for their coaches to stay in the bunk rooms with the boys..PLUS each team has to bring and pay the way for 2 umpires. It cost each team approx $10k-$15k to go play in Cooperstown....
That doesnt include airfare or lodging for the parents

ome people spend 5 figures a year on 10 year old baseball, and it’s dumb as frick
What do you spend your money on? Just curious.
Again, I don’t have a kid that plays travel ball. I just find it annoying as frick that this board has an unhealthy obsession with something they literally take no part in. Rec ball doesn’t exist like it once had. Times change. Get over it. If you want your kid to play competitive ball against kids that aren’t picking their nose and are only there so their parents can have a free babysitter, you put them in different leagues.

All these parents so vehemently opposed to travel bar are funny to me. They are generally lazy parents with unathletic kids. Its even worse when the kids are athletic but the parents are too lazy to do it.
I grew up playing soccer tournaments all over the country and they were some of the best memories I ever had. One of those memories was playing n a tournament while some friends were tripping on acid at the IMAX.
In other words, have fun when your kids are 15/16/17 years old and sleeping till noon because they have nothing to do other than playing fortnight till 3 AM with their friends.

The posters that usually post this to troll the board are posters who either have no kids and couldn’t play baseball if their life depended on it or kids that don’t play sports and are ignorant on how league works now.

When we played rec my son was made to play 10U at the age of 7 so we moved to tournament ball. Now he plays on a 8U team that plays up 9AA in USSSA. This year they have won 5 tournaments and he’s gotten 6 rings.
And you think he would have more fun in Rec???? Come on man

I know it’s not cheap. But that doesn’t mean you should ask someone else to pay for it
And I’m just using Cooperstown as an example. There are world series all over the place for different ages

Golf, vacations, BBQ, beer, hunting and fishing, my kids and their activities, private school
Know how much of that comes from fundraising?
