Thinking of taking day trip to NOLA for family to experience Mardi Gras Parades

Would the Uptown parades on February 23rd be good for kids? I'd be willing to hit Metairie for Caesar too if it would work.
Also any tips for navigating the area? Parking for example. I grew up in New Orleans but it's been about 7 years since I've been to a parade. Plus my dad and uncle always took care of finding the spots to see the floats.
EDIT - 23rd's the only date that will work for us.

Caesar is pretty much the only good Metairie parade left. Take the family to catch it on Bonnabel.
For uptown try and catch the parades near Sacred Heart: they have bathrooms and food for sale and it’s a good area

St. Stephen's church also has parking, bathrooms, and concessions. We have had good experiences there in the past.

The first weeekend parades on St. Charles are great for kids. Anywhere from Superior Grill heading to Napoleon should be good.

Park in the neighborhood around St. Charles (river side). There should be plenty of space, but you might have to walk a bit to find a good spot on the route.

Every year we go online and buy bracelets for the Intercontinental Hotel for Sunday. All day the bracelet is like $40.00 per person. They then clear the grand stand and it is a different bracelet for Bachus. We go down and park in a lot behind the walk ons that way we can get out after all the bachus madness. All day at the intercontinental hotel have access to bathrooms. Can bring a cooler and it is all family centered! Lukes is across the street. Only way I will do mardi gras with the kids. Those bracelets are the cats arse. You can park and be back in BR for 7:00pm.

Just get a hotel room at a place like the Hampton Inn on st Charles avenue. You get one parking spot per room booked. Plus you have easy access to bathrooms.

People on here will say that you'll get shot, stabbed or raped. However, go out there and enjoy life, don't be a pussy like most of this board. There's certain parades that'll be more kid friendly than others and they'll enjoy it.
When I went to a daytime parade in New Orleans as a kid, they had 2 guys next to us that were really drunk and ended up fighting, where one got stabbed. Those are the life lessons that are priceless. Have fun and enjoy!

Uptown at magazine and nepolean is fine for families. It’s right by a police station and a church. There are plenty of bathrooms and a bar nearby if you want to sneak a beer or two. There are also quite a few places to grab food to go.
Edit: as others have mentioned, St. Stephens. It’s off of Napoleon and Magazine and it’s perfect for kids.
