First it’s alcohol, then it’s animal products, then bread and pasta….
It’s slippery slope

I stopped 26 years ago. Wish I'd have done it sooner.

Yes. Hangovers became 2 day festivals of suck.
I gave up. I LOVE beer. But the juice ain’t worth the squeeze. The wife is happy.
It’s now amusing to me the amount needed to feel buzzed. Turns out it’s one strong beer.

Even just a little makes me feel anxious and depressed the next day.
Same here. I used to get pretty hammered every weekend and have a few every night during the week. Now if I drink a 6 pack of miller lite in a weekend it's more than normal.
There is no way around the fact that you're poisoning yourself. I'm honest with myself and don't make excuses. When I drink it's because I want to, plain and simple.

If something makes you feel bad, you shouldn’t do it

I don’t drink. I don’t get the pot belly drunk. Never seemed fun or attractive to me. Prefer to be 100% everyday.
Also, Trump doesn’t drink and seems to look down on it pretty hard.

Serious question: you rely on DTs perspectives to guide your life?

Trying hard to bring my weight down and tighten up long ignored muscles and build my guns a bit. I've noticed a setback every time I drink. It may only be a couple of beers, but makes me feel the next day or two like I don't have the strength I did just before having the beers. Even worse with distilled spirits. So I need to cut it out.
Even a little bit makes a dent in fitness goals for various reasons: dehydration, bad sleep, eating garbage, etc. It’s poison.
When I cut back drinking, weight loss and increased fitness followed. Replacing the time and money I spent drinking and recovering from drinking at the gym, running, on the bike, and/or with my family has been life-changing. I’m in the best shape of my life now and in my late 40’s. I wish I would have quit drinking a long time ago.
There are a couple newer guys at the gym that struggle through workouts and their gains are slow. They’re in their 20’s and still on the party scene. I mentioned to give quitting drinking a try for a month to see how their fitness improved and they just laughed. I probably would have too in my 20’s, but frankly I wish I would have quit back then, or at least by my mid to late 30’s.

Sounds like you have achieved total freedom of the mind.

Still working on the spiritual side of things and a few other life issues, but getting there. It’s a lot easier without the anchor of alcohol attached.

I quit 7 months ago. Was spending $500 a month on bourbon and beer. I was drinking more than two handles a week. Developed alcoholic neuropathy so now my feet are permanently both numb and pins/needles.
One morning (March 4th), I just said frick it...I'm done. Now I'm down 62 pounds. My sleep is awesome and I just feel better all around.
Not going to be preachy, but it was the best thing I ever did.

Crawfish has some protein and isn’t considered bad for you

Right on brother. Alcohol offers nothing positive and only takes away.
If you abuse it , sure . If you just drink a couple on the weekends to relax and unwind , nothing wrong with that .

If drinking just a little makes you feel like that then you have other issues. Psychological or chemical. Quitting all together is a way to prevent it but I would go to the doctor and find exactly what is triggering these feelings so you will know.

I do. Stopped drinking because it screwed with my serotonin. I'll do it once in a while, but it's less and less as the years pass.

The older I've gotten the less allure alcohol has had on me.
It's a ton of calories, makes me feel like shite the next day and I can't be productive on it.
Drunk in my 20s pretty heavily, but as I crossed 30 it's just been unpleasant the last few years. Plus I got my son and I don't to start the bad habits back up again with him around. I'll have a beer here or there once a month or so but I don't consume much more than that
