Not having family around with a newborn, especially your first would really suck

To be honest bro, I was married for 10 years previously and worked the big Sasol project etc, and felt like everything was here to grow and also my Ex wasn’t leaving her family, glad that part of my life is over and she is as well! My baby momma now and one day wife is down for the move and wanting to gtfo here as well, so yea it’s time for us to shine man

Think we’re gonna wait until next summer to make the move. We have some loose ends to tie up and things to do here first. We’re gonna wait until he’s at least 1.

I have had to travel to Tampa a lot recently for work and it is awesome, good roads, good infrastructure, restaurants and sports teams.
My college buddy moved there when his company went to remote work and his kids school was virtual. He has loved it .

My wife is fromLA and thought the world revolved around Baton Rouge, she has found out there are better schools and there is a better quality of life outside of LA.

My uncle has lived in St Pete for like 25+ years and he loves it. It's not my scene (no seasons or mountains) but I'm sure it's an upgrade from Lake Charles. I've only been a handful of times.

Yep Tampa is awesome so close to St.Pete and Clearwater also. Traffic can be a little hectic but trust me you wont regret it one bit. I live up in Northern Florida but my wife lived in Tampa for 10 years and we make several trips a year to see them and stay for the weekend. Always something going on and the weather is great year round. Good luck

Population in 1950:

Florida 2.8M
Louisiana 2.7M

2020:

Florida 21.7M
Louisiana 4.6M

Florida was always going to pass Louisiana but our leaders have created policies that led to America’s first 3rd world state. LA in population now only ahead of Arkansas and Mississippi in population in southern states, and if being honest both AR and MS have better infrastructure and job creation potential and will pass LA in 30 years.

So.... Tampa?

Have you been there? It may not be Louisiana shitty, but it's really shitty.

Life is too short to live in Louisiana. Down vote away but living and raising a family in East TN has me wondering why anyone would willingly suffer through that shithole

Maybe I'm a little tougher than you, but I love and enjoy living in Louisiana even though there are obvious major shithole problems from the infrastructure to the worthless politicians and crime which piss me off (though the worthless politician part seems to have spread pretty evenly across America these days). Still, I do understand why people want to live in other places.

Also, I really enjoy Tennessee and it has some really beautiful scenery, but East Tennessee (Knoxville, Chatanooga and Johnson City have some of the highest crime rates in America when comparing similar-sized cities). And Tennessee's violent crime rate state-wide is actually higher than Louisiana's somehow. So let's not pretend it's Mayberry (although it clearly has other very nice positives).

Probably right, the Waltons and Tysons seem to be doing well.

Our richest resident, Gayle Benson was carjacked and can’t take her dog for a walk without getting killed by rogue dogs whose breed we cannot mention.

Moved to St Pete after school...came back after Katrina with some idealistic bullshite then got entrenched. Run to Tampa Bay man. So much to do and they excel at every almost outdoor hobby except hunting.

Arkansas has 6 Fortune 500 companies and some pretty highly desirable areas in parts of the state. Yeah, it has shithole areas too but pretty much everywhere in the South does.
