You seriously should consider an alternative career path if this sentiment is legit. You probably don't have the grit to do sales down here with us baws.

I just graduated from LSU in May and am taking a career in technical sales in July. My clients will be between Baton Rouge and New Orleans. It seems that a truck is a popular vehicle choice for employees of my company while still others drive the typical sedan. Would purchasing a truck help me to

You are about to get a swift kick to the truck nuts welcoming to the real world.

How about you get something that’s good on gas mileage and make it extra 5 to 6 grand a year because you’re not feeding a gas guzzler

Might want to consider a US brand vehicle. while you won't have the same level of reliability and will have higher depreciation...there are some places (typically union shops) that frown on people rolling up in imports.

Ignore most of these idiots, man. 99% of them are the typical La durrrrrrrrrrrrr my truck trailer trash broke types that gain their self worth by acting tough on an anonymous message board and put themselves to sleep at night with this board pulled up and continuously whispering “I’m a baw, I’m a baw, I’m a baw....”

My god. People actually think about shite like this before buying a vehicle? Are you old enough to even drive? See I'm not sure you are if you are worried about what you drive is going to help you "fit in".

Ideally I would like a cheap truck that can tow a boat parked in a garage only to be used when I need it. I feel like an idiot driving a pickup truck around every day.

If I were you, I would get a sedan, and it really wouldn't be a hard decision. Don't be one of these people driving a pickup around who literally never use it for its intended purpose.

If actually referring to a car, pretty good advice.

Trucks however are stupid. I'm in the process of buying a truck right now. Dealer after dealer, the 2 year old used truck with 25k miles is going for the same price as the 2018 model once you factor in rebates, etc.. I could probably negotiate a little more off the used, but still within around 2k of the new. I get that this is only during the really good rebate offers, but those happen all the time.

Just put some truck nuts on your Camry. Better gas mileage, lower insurance and its not like you need to haul a dead 8 point home from the club.

Buy something that you can afford when you’re on unemployment because you took a technical sales job with no experience
