I also remember a smoke bench under an oak tree for the older kids. I went to a K-12 school. Actually, 1-12 it was so long ago there wasn’t kindergarten.
or negros,,, whatever you old fricks called em

Actually not at all. Although we had very few.

We didn't have any blacks in my elementary school. None in my town at all. Didn't know any different then but today it seems strange.

Any number of things....
My wife works at a private school in BR. They discipline and kick kids out for the littlest shite compared to what we did 30 years ago. Drinking, fighting, posting questionable pictures on Instagram. They give these kids a very short rope these days.

That’s because their entire lives wouldn’t be ruined if they made a mistake. Kids today aren’t allowed to be kids. I wish I could’ve grown up in a different time.

100% true. People are overly protective and risk averse.

Or maybe a different place. It only got ridiculous in our hometown school about 7-10 years ago. Before that any reasonable prank or mischievousness wouldn’t get you in much trouble. Cell phones/social media led to much of the crackdown on kids.

I remember sitting in the parking lot my junior year, with my buddies before school, comparing our hunting rigs a few days before deer season started. Rifles with scopes, one baw had his bow, and was an early advocate of bow season. Just shooting the breeze, a dozen dudes armed to the teeth, and not a care in the world.
Not a word was said, nor a frick given. Mid 90s.

We all carried pocket knives and kept a shotgun or rifle in our vehicles.

We would change our uniforms to street clothes during senior free hour...drive line idiots over to Martha's Vineyard on Coursey, Power Drink for an hour (drinking age was 18) and then put uniforms on and go back to Sr. Religion trashed after stopping for a legal smoke in the student smoking pit behind the cafeteria....
Inevitably, I would get caught smoking by my Coach and then have to run dozens of laps for violating training rules...
Threw the discuss drunk in a City Meet and threw my fricking personal best...Coach knew we were trashed too.
Can't pull that shite off in 2019.

Wouldn’t get us expelled, but several of us had late 90s models Silverados and Sierras and would screw around and switch peoples tailgates.

Only time I got in trouble for a knife was when Ag teacher caught us playing chicken. Chewed us out saying someone would get stuck. Made us play stretch instead.
Gun rack in back window always had a shot gun and/or Marlin 30-30. Late 70’s. Loved the freedom of living in the county.

Hell, I did things then that would have likely gotten me expelled had I been caught. Smoking weed, selling acid, "stole" a teacher's car once.
