The hate for aging on this board is pathetic. Y'all are some miserable people who claim to live-and-let-live, until it involves age.
the OP admitted he was firmly middle aged.

I meant to say middle aged and firm.

I turned 40 in January, but I stay aware of how I present myself. I like to stay in fashion, but I know people my age.. Even a few years younger, who does things like.. Wear jeans, t-shirt tucked in with no belt and white tennis shoes.. That makes them look older.

My close friends seem to all stay in fashion and make sure they don't look older than they are.. Except one guy. He even has a old man hairstyle.. He even has this old man attitude about him.. He isn't the "get off my lawn" type, but he just doesn't keep up with anything current. And sometimes its just like "damn dude, where you been?"

Statistics show that people who have the most birthdays are typically the oldest.

That is what I have found over the years.

I would submit that it's wearing shorts with dress socks that is a sign of "oldness"; of course, if the white socks are knee highs and have colored bands at the top, that qualifies, too.

I'm not sure about this one. I think you can pull off a blazer with an expensive pair of jeans and a button down.

Anything that takes effort will make you appear younger IMO.

Whether it's your physical fitness, hairstyle, skincare, or your outfit. If you make an effort, it usually shows.

You can wear whatever you want to, but if you don’t take care of your body and your appearance you’re going to look old as frick

Looked at this thread this morning and shaved off my gray goatee. Jury is out on whether the 28-35 year old single chicks will attack me at the bar tonight. Definitely going to miss the girls with Daddy issues now.

This.

It really doesn't take much to look or appear younger. I also put goldbond lotion on my face every morning because I want to avoid getting as many wrinkles as possible, but if someone just keeps a fresh, stylish haircut and don't dress old they will look younger.

A beard makes you look old for a while, but if you're like 70, it really doesn't have an effect.

Well I'm bald, so there's that. Anything else I do untrendy just adds to the effect.

Actually, thinking this makes you look old makes you old.

For petes sake, it went from a suit jacket to casual blazer in 2 posts. Let's get old pete to make a judgment on this.
