Health. Hell, there's conditions that are terminal but think when you're running a fever...you don't give a crap about anything other than feeling better. Just a fever. That's all it takes for everything to fall to the side.

I think that is a bit of a flaw in the OP. Almost every response has been things that are often underappreciated but to answer one's children are "truly unappreciated" is sociopathic. It may be (is) true for some but for the vast majority of people underappreciated would be as far as it goes.
