shite, that number is out of date. It is up to 176 now. That's 45 murders ahead of last year's pace.

Jefferson Parish has some rough areas but is wayyyy safer than New Orleans.

As a whole yes - but there are some places in Marrero where I would not go at night - maybe during the day, too

Meanwhile, Mayor is focused on creating sister-cities.

Good lawd.

No doubt. Unlike New Orleans though, there are more safe areas than bad in JP. Also, you can count on JPSO to respond quickly and actually arrest someone.

If you took out a 5 block section of Jefferson parish (bunch village area) there would only be single digit murders in Jefferson parish. That area is far worse than anything marrero has to offer

BR murder rate is down from last year but it still should be on that list. Easily top 10

It's so darned easy to lie with numbers, if only TPTB in NOLA cared to make an effort.

For example: declare that NOLA must include the whole metro area, add a couple of parishes. Count everyone coming in from California as 4x the number, because they're going to have so many friends coming to visit and eat, that they might as well be residents.

Some deaths by violence can be called medical problems. Heart failure (all the blood drained out of a body), liver failure (shot up liver), etc.

Look (I'd guess) how Detroit's solved their problems. Depopulate the city (whups). At some point the rise in crime rates because of decreasing population will cross over to fewer fatalities (the target group has gotten up and left).

New York - 197 - 2.4
Boston - 13 - 1.9

But the people on this board will tell you strict gun laws don't work.

It's still doing something right when it's 15th on the list despite being the 3rd most populated city in the US.

What a response.

What gun laws could we put in New Orleans to curb these murders?

Jackson and Montgomery are under 200k people, right? So probably excluded.

I doubt they have enough murders to get close to Baltimore or New Orleans though.

Jackson recorded its 63rd murder on June 7.

It's not going to surpass New Orleans and Baltimore in the amount of homicides committed, but if based on the rate per 100K, Jackson is at the top of the list by a huge margin.

From Google-

"With 153 killings thus far in 2021, the homicide rate for Jackson is 99.5 per 100,000 residents, a rate that blazes past Memphis, St. Louis, and Baltimore."

Yeah, it does demographics a good bit better than most of those ahead of it.
