These 3 states – and Washington, D.C. – are raising their minimum wage

Twenty-one states had minimum wage increases or cost of living adjustments at the beginning of 2020.
And now, halfway into 2020, more are set to continue pushing the nation’s average minimum wage upwards even as the federal minimum wage remains at $7.25.
On July 1, Illinois is set to increase its rate to $10 an hour. Oregon’s standard minimum wage will move to $12 ($11.50 for non-urban counties) and Nevada’s rate becomes $9 for employees without health care ($8 if you have that perk).
And Washington, D.C. will institute a $15 an hour minimum wage on Wednesday, a long-time goal of the Fight for $15 movement influential in the recent Democratic primary. A number of states, including California and Massachusetts, are scheduled to reach $15 in the coming years.
In some cities that have leeway to set higher rates, low-wage workers earn even more. Berkeley, Calif.’s minimum wage, for example, is set to become $16.07 an hour this week.

Three very stupid states that will be seeing those $15/hour minimum wage jobs get offshored or replaced by robots all the sooner.

Is that a living wage? Can a family of 4 survive on that? We're always told it's not enough but they never tell us what is enough.

The more expensive you make human labor, the more affordable and desirable non-human labor becomes.

The real minimum wage is $0
If we want to give the working poor more take home pay, you do it through EITC extensions
If SOCIETY thinks the working poor deserve more money, then SOCIETY should have to pay it through taxes. Don’t burden the business owner with having to pay a worker more than the worker brings in in revenue.

Since you seem to have difficulty with reading comprehension, Illinois, Nevada, and Oregon are raising minimum wage to $9-12/hr, not $15/hr

Genius move to make labor more expensive while simultaneously enforcing businesses to shutdown or operate at 50% capacity. All at 20% unemployment. I'm sure small business will just absorb all of that cost lol

Agreed
Every minimum wage hike makes businesses say “can I replace This job with a foreigner or a machine?”
If you think I wont Buy a hamburger from a robot, you’re wrong.
I would RATHER buy a hamburger from
robot.
Hell out a window and people will come just to watch their hamburger get made by a robot. People watch how it’s made and doesn’t even get food at the end.

It always depends on what anyone ever means by a "living wage"
You can live on zero dollars on hour if you have built your own house and farm your own food.
But generally these people mean living wage to be at least two cars that are leased and you have to get a new one every 3 years at least. Living within 10 minutes of where you want not need. A large TV in every room and the services including cable and all streaming to watch on them. A cell phone with unlimited data for every family member. At least one vacations for everyone per year. Ability to buy organic food every day and eat out at least a couple times per week for everyone.
And so on and so on

Inflation and prices will increase to meet the new wages. It all evens out.

A family of four is not supposed to survive on a single minimum wage job.

Or the price of their goods will go up and we’ll be right back at square one.
Minimum wage jobs aren’t meant to be a career. I don’t know why we can’t just admit that.
