It's they way it should be. Individual states should be dictating what their min. wage(if you're going to impose one) should be and not some arbitrary number dictated by the feds. What's good for California may not be for North Dakota. What's so hard to understand about that?

I think the whole argument for increasing minimum wage is that prices and inflation have already increased, so wages should go up accordingly.

Wages do go up. That is part of a market economy.
Minimum wage shouldn't change, though.
