You're surprised that women go on dates just for a free meal?
The reason women get married is to lock down a permanent meal ticket

Never appreciate this quote until you've lived long enough to tally up all the bad shite that's happened after 10pm. Then it finally clicks.

That's why in the 1990s I treated my ladies to the best of Taco Bell...after the action.

a man just needs to know the difference between a woman you date and a woman you might marry. perfectly fine just to date some women.

You don't have to post the click bait headline. This is TigerDroppings and you aren't getting paid per click. I'm sure many posters like myself would rather a post subject that gets to the point. Such as, "Ever had a "foodie call"?"

I appreciate the content of the post because it was something I had never heard of. Just tired of online content being clickbait, then you have to scroll down 2/3ds of the page to get to the meat of what they are trying to say.

Probably cheaper to feed her, Starbucks is way overpriced and nobody really gives away free booze.

If they do give away free booze, where is this? Asking, you know, for a friend.

Amateurs. Don't ever take a woman to a restaurant for a first date.

Coffee or Happy Hour drinks only.

Bingo.

When I was in college, my first date formula never changed. Grab a drink or two together during happy hour. Never spent more than $15-20 on a first date, and it's a great way to assess compatibility in a less pressure-packed setting.

It's also how I started dating my wife.

Even in the Year of Our Lord 2026, it's still easy enough to find solid happy hour deals most anywhere in the country. $4-6 for a beer. $6-8 for a glass of wine.

You can't convince me that it's cheaper to treat a girl to dinner than it is to buy her two $8 glasses of wine.

"Margot Robbie asked me out but I'm not sure she's someone I would marry so I took a pass" said no guy ever.

What if you're a guy that doesn't want to get married?
That would rule out the entire female population.

I knew several chicks who did this when I was in college decades ago, hardly a new thing.

A recent survey found that 30% of U.S. adults have accepted a date primarily for a free meal or drinks, a behavior many term a “foodie call.”

Lower level form of prostitution. I believe the proper term is called an escort.

One of the media’s favorite things to do is trash today’s young men. You know we live in a feminist society. Women are given the kid gloves treatment. It’s true young men in America have their issues, but they aren’t medicated on psychiatric meds at nearly the same rates that young women are.

They have their sights set waaaaay beyond that.

So a fine dining restaurant where unescorted women hang out, waiting for a guy to buy them a meal? Not buying it. A bar with food, maybe, but not a fine dining restaurant. This would assume that single men are going to nice restaurants alone, hoping to meet someone at the bar?

This is actually a great way to meet a woman. If she’s at a restaurant bar by herself she’s lonely. If you find someone like this you basically just have to be able to fog a mirror to get laid in this situation. Or so my friend tells me.
