You do you bruh.

We grow up thinking we have to earn as much money as possible and that to some degree everyone has to keep up with their peers so there is a general expectation the world has of you... But thats all just a bunch of bullshite.

Take what you got.. You can even pick up jobs just so you can eat more than 1 burrito a day.. But why live stressed and not enjoying what you do everyday?

I just got laid off after 30 yrs of working my way up to a quasi executive position -VP with perks etc at public company. I sorta get your drift. I’ll end up going back to the grind in some capacity, but I can’t say that I haven’t done the math and tried to figure out how I could live a very modest life on what I have saved.
The corporate work world is bull shite, especially lately.
It’s been good to me, so I am certainly grateful, but it’s been a great feeling not to deal with it(for now anyway).
I’m not going to hang it up yet, but if you can make the numbers work and you’re happy, go for it.
Don’t let the stress of stuff and “keeping up with the Thibodauxs” rule your life if you can avoid it. You’ll wake up one day having missed life by working too much and be too old to do things you wanted to but put off.
More is not always better.
Godspeed and good luck.
Rant over.

You call it unemployment, sounds more like retirement,,,

I approve, and hope to be right behind you (no Homo).

This idiot thinks he just invented the concept of retirement.

Obviously this is from Reddit but I can dig it.

I sold my small business and quit working as a real estate appraiser at 44. I left some money on the table but I am now 45 and love it. We don't need that income so I am a man of leisure.

I am on a permanent vacation.

Sounds like OP has found a sad version of Lean FIRE.

Read MrMoneyMustache for some inspiration for how to live that lean early retirement yet remain productive.

I'm not making near what I was this time last year. But I dont have 1/10th the responsibilities. I will most likely fall back into the rat race due to boredom though. The past year I haven't been challenged.

To OP though unemployment is fine if it under insurance. Most have past that through this past year and are now on what should be noted as welfare.

It it works for you and you're happy, good luck. But...don't come back and start talking UBI and better healthcare when you refuse to work.

You see Ignatius Reilly, normal people call that retirement. You should investigate the FIRE movement.

Friend,

If you start a GoFundMe page, which apparently is allowed now, we could make sure you can eat more than a burrito a day.
