Skilled labor workforce has been in decline for far too long

Pay is not the issue, younger people just have shite work ethic.

Oh, there’s guys under 40 working plenty with their hands.
It’s not skilled labor. But, when you love what you do you’ll never work a day in your life.

What do you think is fair? It’s going to get charged back to the consumer so be careful what you ask for.

They're coming across our southern border right now.

Nah, it's just that office work is better for quality of life.

You wouldn’t believe the simple tasks that the under 40 crowd pay for someone to do. I swear they don’t own any tools…..not even a screwdriver.

I love working with my hands. I especially love building furniture and rebuilding engines.
Neither pays what I make sitting in an office.
I wish that was not the case.

Skilled workers have an opportunity to make a nice living, but everyone rather sit in a cube, do about.. 10 hours of actual work during the week while they spend the other 30 posting on a message board bitching about all the problems.

I paid someone $300 last night to unclog my toilet. Wasn't even a plumber.

both are more respected than collecting a check from the government

Pay is 100% the issue for me. My favorite thing to do... that doesn't involve sex or food... is sawing trees and splitting firewood.

Then that means that person is not getting the whole $300

Yep. The day I can can charge 300-400 per hour and keep business coming through the door is the day I'll become a mechanic.
Until then I'll keep it as a weekend hobby.
