The oldest Boomers were 15 then. The youngest weren’t born yet.

Yeah, if you cut out your daily fancy coffee and Netflix, you’d still have to save for almost 20 years to afford a down payment on a $250,000 house. Seeing how the avg cost of a home these days is over $400k, this whole “just cut out unnecessary spending” mantra is completely retarded.

Another thing boomers never had to contend with - absolutely unchecked illegal immigration occupying a huge chunk of the supply.

No one born 1946-1954 bought a house in 1960.

Some of the boomers fought in vIetnam... Were drafted for a ridiculous unnecessary war in unwinnable conditions. My dad was born in 52 and just barely missed bwing drafted. I had uncles that did and came back fricked up forever.

Cool, thanks for bringing such relevant information to a home ownership thread.

It’s hilarious seeing the poors on here whine about housing prices. Invest in yourself first. Get an education in a desirable field. If you don’t want to do that learn a trade. You can make very good money in many trades just as much as your corporate friends. Don’t buy stupid shite like $80,000 trucks. Avoid depreciating assets of all kinds. It’s not hard to do any of this you just have to want to do it. Lazy people are rarely successful in life.

There are definitely legitimate reasons for why boomers are so terrible. It's not all their fault.

The amount of Americans who live in the suburbs who finance $80,000 trucks when a Honda Accord or Toyota Camry will do more than they will ever need is staggering. It’s just stupid.

This is not good. An entire generation with no prospects for homeownership can only lead to bad things.

I bought my house at 28. My wife bought a condo at 24.

under you can not afford to get into the market with high house costs and higher then recent interest rates.

That’s because young people nowadays don’t want a wood-frame house with two bedrooms. Most of my young friends aren’t satisfied with anything costing less than $425K.

The standard of living is much higher nowadays. Who ever thought we would be spending what we do in telecom bills every month!

Or just buy used and in cash. I drive a 21 year old Chevy pickup that runs like a top and a 2018 Equinox that also runs great. Both are paid for.

A lot of them would be damn happy with a regular affordable house if there were any to be had where you didn't have to shoot your way into and out of the neighborhood
