Southern New Jersey about an hour or so southeast of the Philly area. It's an underrated place

An hour southeast of Philly is Atlantic City. Cape May is not far from there and it’s usually gorgeous there 7 months of the year. The winter is miserable. I’d rather be in Colorado or Idaho in the winter than south Jersey.
A friend of mine from Colorado went to visit her boyfriend’s parents in NJ by Ocean City last Christmas and complained that she was freezing the whole time. They couldn’t understand how a girl from Colorado couldn’t handle the NJ winter.

I was a CTA guy and that blast of icy air when the train would fly into the elevated station at Belmont (which was windy already) is something I hope to never experience again

all you gotta do is find shade or water and outdoors in the summer is perfectly comfortable

Part of this conversation taking place is because for the most part winters every where have been getting mild and summers are getting worse.
The north east dream of retiring to waterfront property in Florida is so antiquated that it won’t even be a thing not far from now. Everyone I know who lives in Florida leaves for the summer if they are able to do so.

Heat index of 110-115 here the last few days. I definitely don't feel like being outside from about 11a-7p

This weather sucks, though. Compare this heat to Chicago or the Northeast's summer...It's not like this heat in the South is a "good" thing.

And winters suck in the South (LA, TX, MS, AL, GA, and SC). It's humid, wet, grey, and it can feel really freaking cold due to the humidity. I'm not saying they're on par with Chicago's, but they certainly aren't great.

It just depends on location I guess. Yeah it probably gets a lot colder in Northern Georgia than it does in South Louisiana. Our average highs in the winter are in the 60s.

Saying winters in Louisiana suck is hilarious we might get 6-10 legitimately cold days a year. Most cold days if you stand in the sun it's warm. Summers suck but our Winters are normally too warm for me.

92?

That's cute.

I work outside in 115 heat index.

Completely agree.

I live in MN now and I fricking loathe the winter. You can't do shite. Yeah we try to go skiing here and there but it's expensive even on these shitty hills.

Not only is it cold AF, its windy as hell and it gets dark at 4:00 making being outside absolutely miserable.

You go several months without being outside for more than a few minutes at a time.

Summer in LA never bothered me at all. You can still do plenty outside as long as you can deal with a little sweat. Here there's just no reason to be outside during the winter.

Snow is fun at first. Then it becomes nasty gray salt covered slush the same color as the soul sucking gray sky you get to look at for half the year waiting for your car to defrost.

No one is saying it is, that's not the point of this thread.

I can still be outside doing things...working out, tailgating, lots of stuff.

And it still doesn’t get the same heat as south La or the gulf coast gets. I try to explain that to people in NC and SC, where we live now, and most can’t comprehend the misery.

Worse weather in south you sweat your arse off but can swim at the pool.

Worse in north everyone dresses like Michelin man and you break your back shoveling snow and break ankle slipping on ice.

South wins….except 1 lil detail……when a hurricane destroys your life.

Cape May after Thanksgiving can get pretty rough. But I've been there in early March a few times where it's really not bad at all. Right now it can get pretty hot, but if you are from LA it's more than tolerable.

Early humans didn’t die of disease or malnutrition or lack of modern medicine, it was lack of air conditioning.
