Shortly before the beef arrives on my fold-out tray, I’m working out how to position my feet. My left leg is swinging over the carpet of a Boeing 777. But what seemed like a triumph at check-in — an emergency exit window seat — looks less smart now as my right foot is squashed against the life raft. I can wedge my toes under it, through a draught excluder, but it’s freezing there. I gain an extra inch by twisting my hips. I check the map on my screen. Time to destination: 17 hours. I am on the longest flight in the world: Qatar Airways flight 921 from Auckland to Doha covers 9,000 miles and crosses nine time zones. I will sit in seat 22K, with its impotent headrest, for 18 hours and 21 minutes (actual flying time: 17 hours 33 minutes). As well as the beef, I will eat the chicken, the “all-day chicken sausage roll”, a snack box and at least three cubes of spongy mousse. I will watch five films. And I will spend hours willing the moving map to move faster.

I flew nonstop from Chicago to Tokyo. It was something close to this.

It clearly shows on the map that NYC-Singapore is 19+ hours

Edit: Apparently there are no direct flights from Singapore to NYC.

My FIL did SYD-DFW and LHR-PER before, something like 15 hours and 17 hours respectfully.

The longest I have done is LHR-MSY and MAD-DFW (11-12 hours)

That lavatory is gonna have an awful stench at the end of that flight.

i did Houston to Buenos Aires last month. 10.5 hours there. 9.5 back. I'll say this, if I wasn't in Business Class. There's no way I could do a flight that long again.

I can't sleep on flights, even with ZZQuil.
I end up getting drunk and watching movies.
Then feel like shite for the next day.

After doing Houston to Taiwan, flights to Europe are a snap.

I did Houston direct to Auckland a couple years back. 15 hours in coach. Can't thank my doctor and Xanax enough.

I know the new Dreamliner being delivered from Charleston for Singapore Airlines has to refuel in Osaka.

Just got back a Vietnam Trip. Our flight from LAX to China was 16 hours. I figured there were longer.

I've been on a 14 hour flight a few times, I don't think 4 more hours would've even been noticeable at that point
