I went with her. She’s 15, so that was prob the issue but you’d think if these places were truly hard hit that wouldn’t matter so much.
I'm sure age is the issue. I'm in Houston and about the only job they can get at 15 is lifeguarding.

But Universal Basic Income!!
UBI is a great idea. In this example, it empowers labor force to not take shite jobs for shite pay and no benefits.
So just better themselves. Why the hell do I want to pay my taxes for someone to sit on their butt instead of figuring out how to get a better job?
I know it's not always easy, but it certainly is not impossible to get more training and move up. I've watched the CNAs at my hospital who are excellent workers, motivated, go getters, go back to get their LVN and then after that go get their RN. It's most definitely possible. They just need to work hard and not goof off. It can get better.

When no one else wants to work hard and take the lead, be that person. It eventually pays off.
This is what I tell my kids when they have complained to me about what someone else is doing at their job. I assure them that even when they think nothing is happening, someone is watching. They are seeing that goof off that's always late and they are noticing who busts their butt and always looks for more to do. It makes a difference.

Did you try any nursery/garden places? My first job at 14 was working at a nursery deeadheading flowers and plants, carrying stuff to cars, shoveling mulch in the back, and tracking down the Caiman in the water plants whenever he got out of his cage

I hope Randall still has a job!

In many states, she'd be legal in 1 - 2

Couple of places where I live have less than 4 running the entire fast food joint.
Reduced hours.
Reduced hours.

Your kid is bullshitting you. My sister-in-law who is in college just got a job at the beach working the front desk at a condo. They gave her $1000 just to start.

Holy frick Chimes is service is so bad. We had to wait 30 minutes to get a table while the downstairs room and bar had about 7 empty tables.

If $600 a week unemployment is causing staffing shortages then maybe you're not paying enough? Just a thought.
I'd hate to be some of these unemployed workers when the benefits stop. "Why is there a 2 year gap in your work history?"
"Uhhh...."

Ok, but I don’t want to hear any bitching when prices go up and the people living off the taxpayer have to actually do something for that buggy full of groceries.

They don’t care and neither do the people hiring them, that’s why they are in that situation to begin with. This shite isn’t rocket science, it’s basic economics.

One of these things is not like the others,
One of these things just doesn't belong,
Can you tell which thing is not like the others

My youngest went looking for a job and literally couldn’t get one. I guess people aren’t that hard up.
I’m calling BS on that, people don’t want to work because that’s what happens when the government pays people more to stay home. Shitty diapers said it himself yesterday that employers should pay more, which is rich coming from someone that’s been in Washington for over 40 years.

Its a beginner job, or a stoner job. Doesn't require skill, they don't care if you were fired from your last job.
